I was at this show! This brings back memories. The long wait through all the weird ass shitty artsy bands was worth it. I remember the drummer, Van Williams, doing his own sound check and playing a mini drum solo that got everyone excited. The sound was so clear. Warrel Dane was drunk but sounded amazing! What an awesome gig. R.I.P. Warrel Dane

@@mgdarenz Every time I saw Nevermore, Warrel was always drunk on stage, so no surprise here. Only one time did it seem to effect his performance negatively. That said, that first time I saw the band was a magical moment for me. Honestly, I was not a gigantic fan of the band. It was that show that made me a real Nevermore fan.
@mgdarenz3 жыл бұрын
@@theicedevil They were gaining momentum by then, and Jeff was getting a better sound. From the early shoes in 92 until around DNB, I saw pretty much every show, and Warrel was a little buzzed sometimes, but never drunk. And the early shows were pure fire. I already loved Sanctuary, so of course I saw them the first I heard they were playing.

Everyone knows Jeff is incredible, but one reason this album was so mind-blowing was because of Tim's contributions! Even though Tim is only credited with a handful of solos on the album, I can guarantee he wrote a TON of the riffs and rhythms too-- if you've listened to The Forbidden's albums, you can IMMEDIATELY tell Tim's signature dissonant chord structures, his Thrash rhythms and melodic ideas. They are ALL OVER this album. This was the first Nevermore album I ever heard, and every album of theirs I heard thereafter, NEVER sounded like this. Jeff's rhythms, melodic structure, and songwriting are totally different than Tim's. Therefore, I think Tim played a huge part in this album, and chose not to take credit for it. Dreaming in Neon Black and Twisted Into Form by Forbidden are to ME the pinnacle of Thrash albums.
@MegadethAcdclover2 жыл бұрын
@@mattpeterson3002 he did write a lot of the songs too. Beyond within, deconstruction, All Play Dead, Cenotaph, we talked about this and I figured the darker songs were definitely his.

Matt is right. Tim contributed mightily to the writing. RIP 🤘 Steve Smyth did as well. Jeff sorta gets a bad rap on that. People thing he hogs the writing but it was never like that. If you brought cool shit he was working it in.

Cheers!
