This song was pre-loaded on my mother's SONY walkman back in 2009. A few days back, I was not being able to recall anything about it, the name or even the band's name. Just knew it had three continuous words with two of them the same. I'm so happy I finally found it. Brings back the memories. :')

It was 2010. I was 13 when I came across this song on my dad's mp3. Loved it. Played it on loop. Thought I would never let go of this song. But then life happened. Lost many things on my way, and this song was one of them. It's 2019. I am 22, looking for good songs to calm my nerves for my exam next day. I start humming a familiar but forgotten tune, and soon the words come flying in.... I had finally found my song.

When I was 14, I had the biggest crush on Cristofer Drew. His pictures were on my binders, in my locker and all over my room. He was the reason why I wanted to learn how to play ukulele. When I was gifted my first ukulele, this song along with Your biggest fan were the first songs I learned how to play. I still pick up my ukulele from time to time and play them word for word and reminisce my teenage days 🥰

When I was 17 I used to play this on guitar and sing along with my ex-girlfriend (girlfriend at the time)… The way nostalgia is hitting from listening to this can’t even be put into words. To be young again during this time….man… 🥲
I was 14 when this first came out - i'm now 27. The lyric "we've got it good whether we like this town or not" randomly popped into my head today and so happy I found this! It's as good as I remember!

I don't usually go for this type of sound. It used to be one of many that were constantly on my ex's playlist, and fueled both my admiration of her wanderlust and my perverse fears that her heart would wander away with her, wherever it was she thought her life was supposed to end up. And after so much shit, shedding so much of ourselves away and laughing as we made ourselves new, to be left for the last time by that same dark wanderlust that seemed so harmless in its glass jar, this song finally has a beautifully painful little corner of my heart to hide reminders of a time when I had no idea one person could take so much of you.

Gino Kemp This song has nothing to do with emo and there's nothing about emo in this song. Please don't get my comment wrong, I meant when "I" was an emo wannabe, this song is kind of a breakaway when I wanted to get out of the dark emo feelings at the time. So no, this song is the opposite actually.

My ex back in 2010 and I dedicated this song to one another, but we didn't fully know the meaning of the song. All we thought about was the title, "Big City Dreams" and how it sounded so relatable to both of us at the time, it also felt romantic. We both lived in different cities, in different states. So it was long distance. We had "Big City Dreams" at the time, and all we wanted was to leave town just to see each other. We never got the chance to see each other, but maybe one day we still will. We may not together anymore, but he's one of my closest friends now. Also this is my first time watching the music video to be honest, lol. ♡

so what is the real meaning of this song? I've been thinking that it's all about a girl chasing her dream, leaving the small town and a boy not wanting her to go.
