Is Hellbringer good in mod 16? I just got back into NW and I have always loved warlock. This is a great guide and the new way the class plays seems really fun! One question though, what are warlocks best at in this mod? Single target or AoE?

Warlocks are decent on the dps side although a lot of it comes down to factors outside of your control like can you maintain your buff stacks between mobs and when immunity phases are during a boss fight. I thing it is a little bit better on the single target side, but you can always convert your single target spells into aoe damage with tyrannical curse.

I'm curious as to why warlocks aren't using accursed souls. Sure, the cast time is a little long but I've cleared entire rooms with it in dungeons.

I use it on the curse bites build version, which I haven't done a video on since it does add a nice full extra round of cursing but for the stacking build if the extra 1.5 seconds it takes to fire it off makes you lose your 25% bonus encounter damage from stacking then it just isn't worth it. Using Accursed Souls also requires a decent amount of skill as to use it optimally you sprint/shadow dash ahead of the group to the next mob of enemies, see the rest of your teams position, try to judge when they engage and start casting it so that the cast finishes just as the tank is pulling agro. It can work but requires a decent amount of practice and timing.

hey soly,i made this build that is atleast in the top 3 dps builds eithout any loadout change,just 1 power to switch from ST to AoE Here' the idea Atwills:Hellish rebuke,Dark spiral aura Powers:Killing flames,Hellfire ring,Fiery bolt(Aoe)/ Hadar's grasp(single) Class feats:D2D,NPNM Feats:Down down up down down How to use Aoe:go in use FB while enemies cluster together,hellfire ring to catch most enemies,then try to KF on strongest enemy,keep using the Hellish rebuke till you get atleast 2 or 3 bars of soul sparks,use soul sparks then repeat mainly,FB,Hellfire ring,KF,rinse and repeat SS to lower cooldown, Single target:Always start with HellfireR to get lesser curse 10% dps bonus,KF then HG at end keep using Hellish rebuke to get sparks and use SS at atleast 3 bars if youre fast enough you can get HG fast and proc the 3rd feat which gives 5%dps bonus per stack,i always proc it and medlt stuff :D Note:try to curse with HellfireR firstbefore usin KF and/orHG Best part about this build is you only need to change FB to HG AOE to ST

Yeah there is definitely more aoe focused ways you can build on the warlock. I tend to skew my builds a bit more towards single target as in the end killing the bosses is what gets you rewards and the new mod 16 changes promoting 3 dps in a group means one character doesn't have to do all the single target and aoe damage. I still like the stacking combo of harder's grasp and killing flames as even though they aren't aoe spells in dungeons where you can keep the 25% encounter damage buff stacks, it is hard to pass up

@@SolytheScourge its hard to wtack in aoe in most dungeons but yeah,we're basically on the same page,though i would say SW aoe should always be burst rather than take time,or y i7 u just get left behind lol

Im a solo player, so would you recommend a Soulweaver or Hellbringer for being best in solo?

You can have both Loadouts... But please Don't Press the Button that says Copy To All Loadouts.... this will delete all Loadouts and the current loadout you are using now becomes Copy Pasted to all Loadout Slots....

What armor and weapon enchantments are required for a SW dps

Vorpal and Barkshield are popular. They both will be in one of the 2 lockboxes with mod 17 although I'm not certain which they will release at launch. (they are already available but are pricey since they are popular and the price will go back down once they are in a new lockbox)

You would probably want to run as a soulweaver, which I haven't played much. The benefit of the healing warlock is that it doesn't require as high gear to do its job in the dungeon and you get decent ad bonuses most the time in random que to help build up your character.

@@SolytheScourge Thank you so much for answering my question. I really hate how they forced the Warlock into a damn healer.... It's NOT meant to be played as a healer and miss my Damnation/PVP based build =/.

I agree mostly with Soly here. However, I'm gonna warn (to anyone reading) that the way dps warlock is built is different from soulweaver if you intend to mostly play as a healer. Most the gear is the same but companion choice and stat balance is different. I've had to lower my power from ~150 to be an effective healer. This is cause as a healer, critical heals are pretty much necessary on warlock. More power = less chance to crit heal because of how the ratio works. Can't find the dev post, can someone cite? It was during the most recent AMA

Yeah just an attempt at humor since a lot of people identified with the names then they got changed. My character/youtube name reflects that. You also have all GWFs now being called Barbies and people who picked a control wizard because they liked the idea of controlling enemies being bland vanilla Wizards now, although they don't complain about the changes as much since they jumped way up on the dps charts this mod.
