I just got my 2020 Tracker 170 ten days ago and I love it. They did fill in the area in front of the console with just a small opening on the side of it. I keep my anchor and rope in it. It’s definitely not the largest boat in the world but it’s just fine for my wife and I. I got the vinyl flooring. So far I like it and it’s not nearly as hot as many people say it is. I also went with the 50 hp.

That's awesome man. Im glad your liking your rig and hopefully you enjoy it for many years to come. Definitely a good 2 person boat,and I see myself upgrading to something bigger in the future but not anytime soon. Have really enjoyed it so far since iv gotten it. An you are right bud,definitely not the largest boat out there but it does get the job done and can sneak into some smaller spaces. I thought about the vinyl flooring but I was also worried about how people said it was hot and shied away from it. Glad your experience is good and it's not as hot as people say. Big bonus there! 50hp definitely the way to go. Really helps it plain the best and perform overall better. Curios what color rig did you go with for the 2020? Like how they added that little compartment,not much but good for that stuff you mentioned

Good review! Looks like they closed that gap in the casting deck with more storage. Any additional complaints about it now that you've had it a while? I'm thinking about getting one this winter
@madmattfishing4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I did see that with the new one. Glad they did that. So far this has been a great boat. Iv put alot of 8 hour days on the water and never had any battery issues or anything yet. Merc still runs strong and 0 complaints from that motor. Could always use a better trolling motor but this has got it done so far. If I where to buy it over again, and upgrade the trolling motor right from the get go. My opinion. I do wish there was atleast another storage box or two. Like to have a place for like lifejackets and stuff. Right now its just under the one seat you can flip up, but that's about all you can fit is one. Haven't really fished in the rain with it but I have taking it home in the rain and when I got back, some of the compartments had water in them. So there not like water proof sealed. But again, was a very heavy down poor. But I think with the newer one they also tweaked that to prevent that better also. Other then that, I really don't have any complaints. Alittle more storage would be good,and a bit better trolling motor would be ideal. 3 bank charger is a must! Great upgrade and highly recommended doing it
@adamjames12964 жыл бұрын
@@madmattfishing You're the man thanks for the detailed response. Good to know, I won't be fishing any massive lakes and for the price it looks like this is my best option plus I can customize some things with the money I'd be saving by not getting a boat in the 25k + range

How has this been holding up after 3+ years of use?
@madmattfishing2 жыл бұрын
It's been a great boat! I have really had no issues with it, just the regular maintenance. I will say the Powdered Gel Coat or whatever is not the best, but I also put it through some rough stuff and conditions. So I got alot of scrapes and things to the gel coat paint job. But other then that, it has been very good to me. Still using the same trolling motor and batteries that came with it. Definitely recommend though upgrading the trolling motor and getting some lithium batteries and some point. Worth the investment and just overall be a better performing boat amd less weight in the back. Hope this helped!

Hey thanks for sharing this video! I’m curious what your thoughts are on the Edge 45lb with the extra battery after a few months of use. Do you find yourself having trouble on windy days? If don’t mind sharing, how much did that upgrade cost you? Thanks again for the videos!
@madmattfishing5 жыл бұрын
No problem man. I like the trolling motor,its one that comes standard with the boat. I do want to upgrade it at some point,but that's why I went with that 3 bank charger. I believe the upgrade was like 150-200. Dont quote me on that as I don't remember, but I could always look at the paperwork I have. But pretty sure it was around there. An that's with there installing fee&batter cost ect. I would not run this trolling motor without that upgrade. Also I have never run out of juice yet with this set up,its staid strong. In windy conditions it can be a pain. Basically got to stay on the trolling motor the whole time. Iv fished in 20mph winds pretty good. But in the higher digits of that you'll fight the wind. But dont get me wrong, it gets the job done for coming standard. But I'd definitely save up and just upgrade it right off the bat. Hope this helps. I'm saving up to get a motor with spot lock. Think those are the best bang for the buck IMO
@nbautista125 жыл бұрын
Madmatt Fishing Thanks for the breakdown! I think we’re on the same page, it’d be great to eventually get a bigger trolling motor but this little upgrade will keep the standard one going for now. I imagine it’s pretty tight with space having that extra battery and charger in there. Did you have to get a particular battery and charger to make it work?
@madmattfishing5 жыл бұрын
@@nbautista12 it is very very tight space. Nothing else can go back there. Before I even picked up the boat I had this installed. My hands couldnt squeeze back there. I picked this up at a bass pro so they just did the installation for me . They just used the batteries that came standard with the boat. An they have held up great so far

What is the storage length or the depth of your garage ?
@madmattfishing5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure without measuring. But this 16 foot 8 inch boat barely fits. So I'd say length of garage is 17 foot max if that
@Loochy8085 жыл бұрын
I believe the storage length of the 170, the classic, and the heritage are all 20'1" . Your garage is.probably about that unless you're putting it in on an angle.
@madmattfishing5 жыл бұрын
@@Loochy808 thanks for the info. I put it straight in. I tried a few ways. Straight in works but the engine propeller has to touch the back wall for it to close the garage door. I may have a few inches of wiggle room but not much

I have this same boat and it is a minimum of 19’10” to store straight in the garage. This is with the the engine almost trimmed all the way down and engine turned all the way to one side. Do this for winter storage only then outside for the summer.
@nbautista125 жыл бұрын
chris Berkely Thanks for sharing the exact measurement! Probably a dumb question but is the 19’10” with the tongue folded? Also do you have the 50hp as well? I’m wondering if the 40hp might give you just a little more space in a smaller area.
