Good video, good quality. I liked watching the launches and seeing how the boat accelerates.

what did you not like about the gator tail boat and motor?? you sure did eventually switch up a lot.
@SpearingWithSlurpey2 ай бұрын
Storage was one thing I didn't like the rear pods weren't true dry storage and they didn't fit everything I needed the front storage compartment as well wasn't dry so it really felt pointless. There was no live well situation for fishing and I wanted to move to a center console design. I planned when I bought to maybe add that later on with Gatortail how I built it was in the plan but the next issue was the motor I started seeing some salt age and rust forming in areas I wasn't comfortable with keeping long term. I was thinking of selling the motor and going outboard since I started really diving more than duck hunting. Duck hunting in my area is all 10hp motor restrictions so I really couldn't use it in areas I wanted anymore. I started distancing myself from the mud motor life in general and wanted a more shallow water skiff and fish quietly. The motor noise was annoying long distance travels or even in slow areas its just a nuisance. The hull I do though still miss I loved the drop deck for diving and ease to get in and out of the boat. I also love trying things and going to new ideas and seeing other hulls and trying new possibilities.

@@SpearingWithSlurpey yeah I'm on the fence myself. I want to fish super back country I've been a guide in Jacksonville for 27 yrs and am sick of our rivers current and all the commercial traffic here. Sold my 26' all welded pacific northwest built aluminum boat today of 18 yrs. So, its aluminum or nothing for me.You're really suppose to keep up on any rust or corrosion on the motor with lots of TLC. I'm so sick of outboards also, constant issues so I don't see many differing issues. Just a different routine. They all suck! Saw your Mitzi. They started here in Jax. Met Tom Mitzlaff the originator at a gas station yrs ago when he first came out with the first Mitzi. I'm looking at a lot of used Prodigy's really, a step up from a gator tail.

How well do you think the GTR 40 XD would do on an 1860 flat bottom with pods? With hunting gear and crew, probably pushing 1,200lbs plus boat and motor
@SpearingWithSlurpey2 жыл бұрын
It would push it fine prob 30. Not sure how your pods are if they're custom or not some pods welded on don't plane well. But if you call GatorTail and tell em your set up they will let you know for sure. I don't wana say yes because it certainly will push it 30 or so but the planing may cause issues due to the pods.

differences in boats can change a lot mine is a 1754 yours could be shorter narrower less aluminum dry weight. I have some weight with the cat walks / mod v our gas tanks could be largely different mines 13 etc. Gator tail makes a different set up than a black death weight alone could be different and effect speed.

@@SpearingWithSlurpey I don't but I've seen the boat. At high tide you can get to the rise with an outboard. Totally different river at low tide.

Things have changed since I’ve bought mine prices have gone up dramatically. If you call em or talk to them they will give you a quote on what you’re wanting. Most add ons were about $700 a base Hull if I remember was about $7000? And the motor was $9500 so I mean right there is about $16500.

You can let that thing smash off rocks. Mud motors eat rocks for breakfast
@SpearingWithSlurpey4 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, I've witnessed people hit logs with the prop and the "stainless steel prop" broke if the skeg hits first you're in the clear and that's what you want to hit first. I've cleared off the tops of many rocks and the skeg hit first. Also noting the props shouldn't really be ran in muddy sand situations either as it''ll wear down the prop real quick. But overall these motors give some piece of mind when hitting things. I however almost never run my motor in bad areas the reason for that is you want "4 wheel drive" when you need "4 wheel drive performance" if you drive like a nut you're bound to get stuck and in a bad situation if you're alone.
