Thanks Steve! I am beginning to realise honesty is a rare commidity in the KZbin car review world. I am not saying people lie, but when you earn a living from YT you quickly learn there is a connection between being invited to events and being loaned press cars and not being too critical. I'd say nearly all the big automotive channels don't provide critical reviews. Luckily I don't pay my mortgage with YT and I can get cars new and old from other sources to review but I am beginning to feel a bit of an outcast, all because of being honest and providing valid consumer advice. Hopefully in time this strategy will pay dividends but right now, honesty doesn’t pay

Biggest issue I have with my PFL RS3 is the chassis, this one seems to address this. The thing I love is the noise, this sounds pretty muted. I'm no BMW fan but they have a new alternative, the M240i X Drive. Just as quick and cheaper. Jo Achilles managed a 3.7 0-60. With adaptive dampers, sunroof + discount its £43k. Arguably a much better drivers car. Very tempting and a pretty 2 door coupe design.

Getting some really good reviews this new RS3. Looks like they might have finally solved the understeer issue that has haunted this car since it first came out. It’s alot of money, but you’re ultimately paying the extra for that unique engine. I think it looks really aggressive too. Just a shame the sound is so muted. Why they couldn’t at least put some pops and crackles on the overrun and give it some character, i just don’t understand. Can’t blame emissions and GPF’s either, as the RS Megane and the i30N both sound incredible!

Great summing up - the A3/S3 is nothing particularly notable, but....that engine! It sounds amazing! You're spot on by saying that engine forgives a lot - it's characterful, in a way that practically all other engines aren't (including the E888 engine in my R). I've always been more of a VW fan, rather than Audi - the image, for one thing. (I also don't like the philosophy that you have to sacrifice practicality with Audi). I struggle with the interior of the A3 (think my Wife hasn't figured out her A3 yet 🤣), but I'd certainly like to try the previous RS3 (preferably a "run out" model). Now, if only Audi did an RS3 Avant....!!

Thanks! Yes the Golf 8 reviews got me into trouble with VW as big publications were vexed they didn't get in before me. RS3 is a great car but being forced to have a round steering wheel if you want ACC and no interior design packs for UK too mean a lot of compromises on a car that at £60k needs to be perfection. That’ll depend how much you value brand and badge..in performance there’s no way it’s worth an extra 15 grand, but the RS3 will turn a lot more heads and gives more bragging rights.
@volkswizard2 жыл бұрын
Tough question. Normally I'd say yes, it all depends how much you can stomach the new A3/S3/RS3 interior material quality. If you don't feel the urine is being extracted (i.e. you've not been in the old gen car) then you'll say yes it is worth it. To drive, apart from the RS3's character, I don't think there is much in it as long as R has Performance Pack. It's around £10k difference between base models and you'd need leather and PP on R to compete which closes the gap but then you need to spec adaptive cruise, dynamic light assist and some other bits that are standard on the R and optional on the Audi. TELL YOU WHAT I'LL MAKE A VIDEO COMPARING THE TWO 😉😁😁
@BobcatBart2 жыл бұрын

I'm actually liking the silver trim with these rims im ordering one ..does anyone else agree with me thats it looks better in this trim or is there something wrong with me

I prefer the carbon black pack but I can see how the silver bits look good on certain colours like black cars

Be good to see various colour combinations with different specs in time. Presumablt the green is black pack only :)

One thing to note Andrew is the fact we get no alcantara steering wheel and no coloured stitching like they do in Europe...

I didn't miss that Jason, there is a whole section on that and how Audi UK need to reverse that decision pronto, it's not like it's free of charge, I'll happily pay for it!

@@sh1ne992 I really like it! Each to their own and all that but I prefer it to the RS3. I think the 240i black out with the M perf goodies will be a beaut. Plus the B58 engine and AWD, probs close on 400bhp as we know and the tuning capabilities. M2 is going to be the one for me. Not seen the 8Y yet but just not sold on it

Great RS3 review and breaking the Audi review embargo! Tetbury Audi seem pretty decent in letting you do a review, I just wish Audi would hurry up with my order.
@volkswizard2 жыл бұрын
Hey Patrick, Tetbury are cool and a genuinely nice dealership. No idea on any embargo, there have already been international reviews so didn't even cross my mind.

@@volkswizard I am glad you did the review petrol ped has been told not to release his video until Monday. I am also glad you liked the car.
