I think 175Kg weight is the minimum if your're making the maximum A2 power - so Aprilia are brimming that fuel tank to hit that. That ratio is 0.26809bhp/kg (0.2kW/kg) so I guess a little rounding in that Aprilia hp figure or optimistic low wet weight.

Funny enough Cfmoto were the first ones to release the engine with 270 degree crank, and now Aprilia followed. And i love the Aprilia, as i have an RS660 myself. But i also have a 450SR and having tried against the Ninja 400, CBR500R as well, it beat them both :)

To people mentioning the CFMOTO 450SR, the Aprillia is lighter wet and has the preload on the front over it, so its not a clearcut performance win for the 450SR as much as I want one.

No it's not lol. the 450SR weighs almost the same as the Aprilia RS 457 wet at 179kg, while making about 3 more HP. The 450SR-S makes slightly more HP with everything the RS 457 has except for a quick shifter, but makes up for it with a Single sided swing arm and built in GP shift, while only being $300 more than the base model in China (probably same case if released globally) Both bikes are more or less similar, it just comes down to personal taste on looks and features, given both bikes have a 270 crank, both designed by Italians, just manufactured in a different country.

Aprilia will be targeting the happening 300-500cc market here in India which is super competitive at the moment. If this is indeed manufactured in India and is priced similar to the RC390 (it’s 3860GBP here), this could be a huge win. I didn’t opt for the 390 as I didn’t like it’s looks, but I can see myself upgrading to this if it’s priced similar to the 390.

Eurogrip "Pro torq extreme" they are goooood it be like in-between Pirelli Diablo Rosso II & Metzler M5 Sportech on grip level the tyre beads are stiff but carcass is soooft so in broken/patchy roads it wont transfer impact to rider, i got spoiled with these thou i liked tyre carass which is medium (stiffness) so i can feel the where the tyre is also broken road impact also be felt too-much compared to Eurogrip "Pro torq extreme". it be just figuring out what Air pressure PSI suit the riding style & ambient temps.

Very exciting product and glad to see this coming out from Italian-Indian joint efforts! However, just now the new KTM Duke 390 latest model has been launched in India and the power output has already gone up to 46 ps and it's arriving at relatively lower RPMs than the older Duke 390 bikes along with a bit more torque as well. So, despite being a single, KTM RC 390 newer model will once again give a very hard time to all the other bikes mentioned here... It's raining good bikes in 300-400 cc category and that's great for people to get accessible performance at a good price point!

I'm surprised manufacturers aren't making more of A2-able bikes at the lower end (quite a few options just below 94bhp) Bikes around 400-500cc could easily be tuned to 60ish bhp, and then restricted to 47. Would make for much more flexible and interesting bikes

Overall a very compelling package. Just wish they had used an aluminum swing arm and a twin front disc setup. I have RC390 with the same brake. It's shit and has to be replaced. I think the engine will be better than the RC390 in terms of usability. But i don't think it's enough for me to switch.

Just before you get too excited: If you are higher than 170cm, your legs will be very cramped on this bike. This bike is designed for 150-170cm riders, same as RS660.

Honda needs to lighten up that 500!!! That’s a terrible shame.. such a gorgeous bike but way too heavy to be competitive.
