I have the SD snowflake. Size didn’t bother me (7.5 inch wrist) and the power reserve is exquisitely executed and with 72 hours reserve very handy. I’m expecting they will move to the updated SD that has a five day reserve that makes putting the reserve indicator on the back more appropriate.

I disagree on the sizing. In my opionion 37mm is the perfect option. 36 can be too small, 38 can bee too big with white dials. 37 seems to be a sweetspot. Look at the longinges spirit 37.

The Snowflake stood out for me. However 37mm is right on the cusp of been too small for my 7” wrist and then you have to wrestle with the price being so very high for a (admittedly a great), quartz movement! 😮

I bought the black dial TAG glassbox chrono and was happy to pay retail even though I knew it wouldn't hold value. I bought with my heart. I doubt I would pay over £20K retail though I think the green dial tourbillion chrono is a stunner. Using lab grown diamonds in watch decoration is a good idea. Going by what happened with cultured pearls the price of lab grown will come down a good deal as production capacity increases. Diamonds in watches may soon be an affordable feature for those who like them. Another informative video, thank you.

BS if any of them are 9Fs then The Backlash Auto-Adjust Mechanism ensures that the seconds hand lands exactly on the marker with no shudder, adding to the precision with which the time can be read.

I too own a GS quartz (SBGN005), which has a GMT, and with that fourth hand, the seconds hand, being the first one from the top, is very far from the dial, making it a bit difficult to verify the exact position of the second hand when hitting the markers. It depends a lot of your angle of vision. I would like to know from the speaker, how is the precision of the seconds hand adjusted on this new GS? Thank you! Btw, I agree with you, 39 m would have been perfect!

People, sometimes you seconds hand will be off but on a high quartz like GS you will not find this issue. These things are calibrated to hit every market. IF your hand is off GS can adjust it.

37mm for the Grand Seiko Quartzflake is the perfect size for me, especially for a light color dial. You'd prefer a larger size, I get it. But here's my problem with this video. How on earth 37mm is too small for a three hander, but the Zenith Chronograph + Triple Calendar + Moonphase is "the best release of the year" in a 38mm case? Don't you see how cramped this thing looks?

If its maybe going to be the year of the Green Dial then personally I think Tag should have stuffed one in the Tri Compax Glass Box , except for it being visually appealing Tourbillons are pretty much pointless on a wrist watch, but each to their own I guess.

There is no GS in the current catalogue which has a case diameter of 39mm, so if they were to release such a size it would have to be a brand new case. Somehow i think GS have larger problems to fix such as their bracelets and lack of microadjust, come on GS its 2024 not 2004!

It’s just one way continious glide which dont service intervals like traditional mechanical movement. Quartz are great for the purpose of telling time, but the whole point of a mechanical watch at least for me is that it's repairable by a skilled watchmaker and there's a certain romance that it will outlive you and can be passed onto the next generation as long as it's been looked after well it would function for many years to come. What do you do with a broken quartz watch 20 years later? and they don't make the same movement by then? Replace with a non genuine movement?
@iRDude415
@iRDude415 5 ай бұрын
I guess you're not familiar with Grand Seiko 9F quartz huh? They are designed to be serviceable by a watchmaker. Heck, there are even videos on KZbin on servicing one. They are made and assembled the same way they do with their mechanical watches. Another bonus is that the movement is finished beautifully.
@khazelnut
@khazelnut 5 ай бұрын

@iRDude415
@iRDude415 5 ай бұрын
@@khazelnut I wouldn't worry about it. What I would do is just send in the watch for service/repair whenever it gets damaged (which would be a while). Grand Seiko states that you need to service the watch every 3-4 years but I would personally ignore that since the way a spring drive works is different than a standard mechanical watch. Since it's escapement is controlled by a tiny magnetic brake rather than a pallet fork which means less friction resulting in less wear and tear. So go with your heart and get a Spring Drive 😁
