All New 2024 Toyota Stout Will Make The Maverick Obsolete!
-----------------------------
Toyota is making a new $23,000 pickup truck that will not only destroy the Ford Maverick but also put Ford out of the whole market.
Since Ford revived the compact truck market, every company wanted to join in, while Toyota kept things a secret until now, and the timing couldn’t have been any better. Why? Because Ford and Toyota have been locked in a tight race for decades, but lately Ford has been going through their own turmoil, and Toyota’s new Pickup will kill their one last true hope-their top seller the Maverick. And here is how they did it.

Drove Brand new Ford F-250 and Chevy Pickups in rural north central Montana for years. One of the first things to break where the electric mirrors and doors. Rock took out the fuel pump twice and the evaporation boxes part of the smog broke all the time. Fixed this problem by fabricating a skid plate for it.

The companies themselves need to open their store dealerships again. it went wrong in the early 80s when car lots merged and went basically rogue. I won't buy anything from a place that sells diff brands and mean other businesses... It seemed even Home Depot is just became another fink. They R now just being one notch over Harbor Freight gaga junk these days..

I agree, as a Maverick owner(which I love) I would love to see more compact trucks on the market. If the Toyota can come out cheaper I think that would be great! I have no complaints about the Maverick and the fuel economy is fantastic as well as the towing capacity.

@RichardHarlos
@RichardHarlos 7 ай бұрын
Let's remember that in a primarily market driven economy, sellers can **ask** whatever price they want, but consumers decide whether they'll pay that price. So, if they ask too much, and we refuse to buy... they'll have to ask less or sell nothing. It's generally the people who are more in it for ego who 'buy early' to be 'first on the block', etc., that ruin it for the rest of us. So, if this truck appears with too high a price tag, **just say no** and wait, or buy something else. We have more power than we think we do.

That's what a bed rack is for. At least these days or maybe a small trailer. I spent 25 years in residential construction getting close to finishing another 30 in the manufacturing half of IT. You can actually haul everything you need to build a house with a pickup if you need to but I don't think it is the best solution to the problem. I drove Rabbit Pickups For as long as I could because I wanted to haul the tools I needed and not materials. BTW I currently have a 2002 2500HD Duramax and a newly acquired 2013 base Tacoma as well as an overbuilt 5x10' tilted homebuilt trailer sitting in my driveway and I mastered my first stick at 14 in a '46 GMC.

I agree on the width between the wheel wells part, but a 6foot bed is plenty long for most truck needs, even in construction (unless you are a drywaller, or maybe a framer). If someone needs 8ft long sheets or boards of something, just lay down the gate & use straps IMO, easy-peasy

Kind of dumb thing to think, considering most people who do need a truck, don't haul 8x4' lumber or drywall enough to care, especially if all they have to do is flip the tailgate open. More intelligent people realize that a truck is about load capacity, towing capacity (including torque) and for old timers, whether it has a proper frame instead of being unibody. That still matters quite a lot to people in the snow belt who don't give a rat's arse about the claimed rigidity improvements in a unibody suspension when new, rather they care about whether it is safe to drive after 20 years of salted roads, when a real frame makes all the difference.

Someone needs to make a compact truck with cab forward so it can have a decent sized bed in a Crew Cab. Cab forward crew cab similar to older vans then two rows of seats and at least a 6.5’ bed. Use the same engines as the Rav4 both conventional and hybrid.
@stinkycheese804
@stinkycheese804 7 ай бұрын
Meh, no. The center of gravity is higher, working on the engine tends to be a hassle, and what fool thinks a two row seater with at least a 6.5' bed, is going to be desirable with a rav4 undersized engine in it? You are essentially talking about making a crapmobile that is only popular in 2nd/3rd world countries. At the same time, I could see a similar shape but not cab forward because not ICE, rather EV with rear motor drive, being the better option.

No, because if it has 16" wheels, all the review sizes will whine that it doesn't stop as fast due to the required smaller rotors.

The reason I bought my Ford Maverick is because I wanted the hybrid fuel economy. I could have picked up a Santa Cruz for a few thousand more and had about 23 MPG combined city / highway. I wasn't interested in just a small pickup, I was interested in a fuel efficient pickup. In my Maverick I'm getting 40+ MPG interstate driving in the mountains (just runs electric downhill), 32-35 MPG flat interstate at 75-80 mph, and depending on errands 35-80+ mpg city (sometimes much higher). Towing my 1,100 pound pop-up camper on state highways (55 mph) I still get 30-35 mpg. We'll see about long term reliability, but the truck is quiet, comfortable, and affordable (I paid sticker on the base 2023, no markup). Had the Toyota been on the market at the supposed $23,000 price (unlikely price BTW), I would have still gone for the Ford for the fuel economy. BTW, the ECVT in the Ford is a licensed Toyota design, and it's amazing.

As soon as I see one I will get one. I am not an import fan at all to be clear. However with the big 3 wanting 70 to iver 100k for a freeking truck is insanity. I hope Toyota makes it a front engine rear wheel drive. There is nothing worse then throwing on an accessory drive belt with 5MM of clearance after removing the inner fender.

I have owned 4 Toyota's. The Toyota Camry, The 4 wheel drive basic model Tacoma truck, the Toyota Tacoma 4x4 extended cab, and currently the Tacoma 4x4 crew cab. I have only one complaint about the 3 trucks, all of them needed to have their frames replaced due to rust. They need to fix this.

Power steering and power brakes are the only powered things that should be included in a truly reliable truck. Manual windows, manual transmission, manual transfer case and manual locking hubs. Keep all of the CANBUS digital crap out of it and then you have a truly reliable vehicle. For that matter... go back to points and condenser ignition! I still have my Sunpro RPM, Dwell, Tach and Voltage meter from the 1970's. Keeping an old school distributor ignition happy is EASY if you are willing to do it. Everyone HAS to check the tire pressure once a month. Adding this SIMPLE ignition check and/or adjustment into your monthly routine only takes an additional 15 minutes to half an hour depending on what it needs. Operating a Cel phone has more intricacies and variables than a simple tune-up only you don't have to get your fingers dirty.... Boo-Hoo! (soap and water).

I’ve owned 4 Ford products in my 66 years, and the only one that was dependable was the first:,a 1974 Pinto! The other 3 were low quality dogs, and the last was a joy to drive but not dependable. I’ve owned Toyotas ever since, and my daily driver now is 16 years old and still going strong. Even the paint has held up great, and it’s never been garaged. Ford and GM could have done likewise a long time ago, but they choose not to. That’s why I choose Toyota.

@gmundenat I don't plan to buy through a dealer -- at least not directly. I hope I can buy through the dealer network set up by a father/son team in NJ. You may have seen their videos. Yes, they add yet another middleman, but they seem to set up some good deals without the usual hokey add-on charges. The father was a car salesman for many years, so he knows the games dealers play. Of course, if Toyota offers direct sales, I'd prefer that.

Ford is NOT facing a longterm nosedive of demand for internal combustion engine trucks. They just went crazy with their pricing. You can't get a work truck for under 50k. That's stupid expensive for a bare bones truck. Chevy and Dodge have the same issues. There are dozens of $75k-$100k trucks sitting on local lots because they priced themselves out of the market. It's why used trucks with 175k+ miles are going for $20k-$25k. They forgot how much their market can afford. That's the only reason the Maveric is selling. It's the cheapest option you can get right now.

Put my Maverick Hybrid order in 2022, still waiting on mine but its in route. Something tells me if this thing ever comes out and has decent mpg, going to take a long time for people's orders to get fulfilled which will cause dealers to add extra cost to the ones they get from people who declined their orders causing the price to be way over msrp just like what happened to the Maverick.
