The new 2025 Nissan Patrol. Can an SUV leave behind its iconic V-8 engine in favor of a turbocharged V-6 and still promise more power and performance? The 2025 Nissan Patrol bravely attempts to do just that. This model has left behind the 5.6-liter V-8 of the previous generation and instead introduces a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 that not only delivers 425 horsepower but also aligns with global trends in efficiency and sustainability. But will this change be enough to maintain its reputation in the full-size SUV market?
The most notable change in the 2025 Nissan Patrol is its engine. The brand has decided to abandon its iconic 5.6-liter V-8 in favor of a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6. This engine offers 425 horsepower and an impressive torque of 700 Nm, figures that exceed those of the previous model. The nine-speed automatic transmission promises smooth and efficient driving, both in the city and on the highway.
Engine: 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6
Power: 425 horsepower
Torque: 700 Nm
Transmission: 9-speed automatic
Drive: Rear-wheel drive standard, optional 4WD
For those concerned about the loss of displacement, the new engine ensures the same towing capacity of up to 3,855 kg, a competitive figure in the segment, and does not sacrifice performance, but rather optimizes fuel consumption.
The Nissan Patrol is a legendary model in international markets. For 2025, this connection is strengthened, incorporating some of the distinctive features of the global model, such as adjustable height air suspension and a rear locking differential on four-wheel-drive models.
This approach aims to give the 2025 Patrol greater versatility and off-road capability, positioning it not only as a luxury SUV but also as a robust and capable competitor in challenging terrains. With this, Nissan hopes to face renowned competitors like the Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition, and Toyota Land Cruiser 300.
The 2025 Nissan Patrol also grows in size, offering more cargo space behind the second and third rows of seats. This increase in dimensions is complemented by a refreshed exterior design that aims for a more modern and dynamic image.
Chrome front with C-shaped LED lights
Floating roof on the D-pillar
New LED light strip across the width of the tailgate
These details not only enhance the vehicle's aesthetics.
Nissan introduces the Patrol Pro-4X, an off-road-oriented trim level that includes:
Redesigned front and rear bumpers to improve approach and departure angles
Protective plates, Yokohama Geolander off-road tires
Tow hooks with red accents
Inside, the 2025 Nissan Patrol spares no expense on technology. Dual 12.3-inch screens are standard, allowing both the display of digital indicators and the operation of the infotainment system.
Although the final price has not yet been confirmed, the 2025 Nissan Patrol is expected to have a starting cost of around $60,000. Higher-end models, such as the Platinum Reserve and Pro-4X, could approach $80,000.
