Hey man nice videos, thanks for all the info. Do you suggest the 5inch backing plate on the g9 or g15 or g21? I am practicing and wanna do my blk gmc sierra this summer and coat it. I habe a g21 boss but wondered if 5 is better than 6inch Im also gonna grab the g8 or g13 for my small work. Have you tried the g13? Im practicing on a test panel and detailing boats so im gettin practice on polishing and overlapping and such. Do you like wool or microfiber for a 2 step correction? I have some diy detail foam backed wool pads and some yellow gold standard waffle foam for finishing but havnt used em yet. My blk truck has some light swirls and I want to get it close to perfect before I coat it. I have diy ceramic coating already and a lake country 4000 pad washer I just want to have all the info before I pull the trigger I held off on getting a bunch of pads, I have the oberk system there microfiber and foam that goes with there polish and compound also like I said the diy gold standard system. I also grabbed the koch chemie 2 part pad and polish system. I am going to grab some foam hdo ccs lake country pads. I just want to have everyrhing when I go forward with it. Whats your take? I know that pad/ compounds are different on every paint. Its just confusing with all the info out there. Where should I start with what I got? I know that ill do a test spot justnot surw if the foam would take care of it or if I should start with rhe diy wool which lake country manufactures. Thanks in advance for any info!! Keep up the great videos man..

Thank you for the review! I am a big fan of the BOSS line as well, the whole line is really great. Since you said you don't really use foam, I highly recommend you try out the Rupes UHS foam pad and UHS compound. Nothing comes close to the level of correction and finishing ability on Ultra Hard Surfaces (UHS) as the Rupes UHS system (and no, I am not a "Rupes Fan Boy") I put the UHS system up against Griot's Fast CC and Sonax Cutmax (my top 2 favorite compounds) with Meguiar's and Griot's microfiber pads, Lake Country Extra Heavy Cut foam pads, UroFiber Wool pads - and on Ultra Hard clear coats the Rupes UHS can't be beat. When it comes to anything other than very hard clear it is a different story, but as a pro it will save you a ton of time any money when you run in to very hard clear coat. Cheers!

Have McKee’s 37 360 and some have told me to use a Lake county CCS orange foam pad with it. Would you recommend that same pad in my situation? Thx
@FABAutomotiveDetailing4 жыл бұрын
Tundra Whisperer I guess I should have been more clear. If the paint just needs polished for gloss or very minor imperfections then foam is fine. Anything more then that I always use microfiber. When finishing I use foam but very seldom do I have to do that after using a microfiber pad. They finish down great.

I don't mean to put you on the spot but you mentioned that Brian from Apex detail did a breakdown video on the Griot's Garage G9 where he praised it, then he released another video claiming he doesn't use it because it vibrates too much. Jimbo claims the same thing so now I'm conflicted. I want to buy the G8 next Christmas but now I don't know. I did find that my G9 did stall a lot more than my Harbor Freight, but that only cost me $50.00 and I was using a MaxShine backing plate. After I bought the 5" Griot's Garage backing plate the stalling stopped and worked flawlessly. I don't have much experience with polishers since I'm not a detailer and I didn't think the G9 vibrated that much. I honestly don't know what to think, either Brian and Jimbo are full of crap or maybe they're right, are they? I'm beginning to think that sponsership is hurting the industry.
@FABAutomotiveDetailing4 жыл бұрын
Ed Ruiz I have had zero issues with vibration on the G9! Just because it’s a sponsored video doesn’t mean I won’t be honest. If I didn’t like it I would say it and I tell companies that when they offer to send me something. Some companies still send products others I never hear from again. I’m not sure why they are getting vibrations but vibrations can come from to much polish, different companies pads etc.. I have a 5 inch lake country microfiber pad that makes my G21 vibrate like crazy but if I put a Griot’s 5 inch BOSS Microfiber pad on it is smooth as butter. I hope this response helps and I appreciate you because you have been a longtime supporter of the channel.
@edruiz63644 жыл бұрын
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing I didn't mean for you to take it that way and the reason that I'm telling you is I always know you're telling the truth which is why I love your videos. I just don't know why someone would make a video praising a product then make another video stating that a product is defective. This just doesn't make much sense to me. But for what it's worth I will continue to use my G9 and hopefully I'll buy the G8. I'll just be very wary of other detailers that praise then knock on a product no matter what it is because he may just be sponsored by a competitor. That's why I gave you my opinion. I will continue to support you. I just don't know about the others.

Make sure you use the newest backing plate. It is balanced for the g-9. The older gg-6 plate can be used but may produce a little more vibration. This would be mostly an issue with the 5 inch.
