Just got one 2 weeks ago. Couldn’t get the angle blade but so far I don’t miss it. It is one awesome machine! I got a 48 inch grading bucket a 24 inch and 16 inch digging bucket and a ripper tooth with it

The main attraction to the 305.5 is that it's still a mini, and can still be pulled with a pickup and no CDL, yet it has the breakout force of a 307. The 306 is nice, but adds almost another 4k lbs. to the weight, with almost no added digging force. I will say that it has much better lifting capacity which is one area the 305.5 lacks. But that should be no surprise because the 306 is not a zero clearance machine.

Always awesome to hear from folks who have real work experience with a machine, especially one that could be overlooked for a new addition to the lineup.

I completely agree. I have a 305.5 and picked it because I can tow it with a F350drw and be just under cdl. I would have loved a bigger machine for capability , but the 305.5 is a zero swing which in my opinion makes it a mini.

I have a 305 I tried out the305.5 not enough difference to make up for the extra money this thing here is seems to be closer to the old 307 that’s quite a jump from the 305

But will they stand up to serious punish meant of Australian conditions.need to change colour of the cab surrounds to a lighter colour ,black just gets way to hot here.also need to change quick hitch hoses for better access ,.

24gpm on auxiliary??? Should be at 30 at least with that hp. My Hitachi with 40hp has 24gpm. Takeuchi 260 has 27gpm with 47hp. Cat has always been lacking here.

Would like to hear talk about what size of dump truck or can load flat footed. What size of truck can haul it? What size of trailer? Cdl versus non cdl truck. Residential sewer system and footer versus more commercial work..... weekly fuel consumption. Insurance price range based on being financed.... emission maintenance costs.... undercarriage costs... fuel use per day and week. Does the engine have liners? Height of machine on trailer. Anyways...looks like a nice machine!

All I saw was it digging dirt an filling holes. How about pushing over trees cutting in a driveway in on a wooded lot an clearing a pad for a new house. How many times did the Cat 306 CR dig & fill the same hole. I am not knocking your product. Cat is one of the best name in the business. Its like me given you the '"Specs" on my John Deere 60G @ 53HP/ Depth: 12ft.-4ins/ Reach: 20ft.-5ins. But to see it dig at the roots, then push it over with the bucket.

I just purchased a brand new 308. After demo'ing the 305.5 and the new 306. The 305.5 was not enough machine to cover the wide veriety of job I have. the money difference between the 306 and 308 is such that for a little bit more money you can jump a whole class of machine. In other words, it makes no sense money wise not to just buy the 308. Personal I'm confused by the 306. Cat plans to fade out the 305.5 which would leave an even bigger problem. You will then only have a, way to small machine or a way to big machine without a capable of an affordable mid size excavator....

What was your cost out the door for the 308, and what implements did you get with it as far as bucket, mower ect...?

The whole idea of the 305.5 is tow ability. To go up to the 306 at 16k you already have the truck trailer and cdl to move a 308. So just jump up to the larger 308.
