Nice simple & affordable coop build. Hardware cloth is the only way to go 100%. We liked Leghorns when I was growing up, had about 20 hens & 1 rooster, and one turkey - a male as it turned out - he would sneak up behind you when feeding and try to spur you, LOL. Your farm is really coming along nicely! Can't wait to see each project - BTW, I personally like seeing projects once built and take a finished tour of it, could add some pics of construction scenes here or there if you wanted or not. Love your channel & thanks for the update - keep warm!

That's an excellent coop. I need about 20 of them. The real mystery is that I only have one breed of black feathered chickens....the Svart Honas. And the only really dark egg layers I have are the Cuckoo Marans. The Svart Hona eggs are small and light cream color....just like the pheasant eggs. It's entirely possible things got confused when the kids were gathering eggs.

Haha you and me both! Yeah that’s what I was reading and saw when I looked up the breed. They had small light eggs. But this one definitely came out of one of the large brown eggs you sent. Same size and color as the cuckoo Maran egg. None of if the other eggs hatched 🤷🏼‍♂️ she also has a red comb and not black

Looking forward to your duck operation! I'm hoping to get some ducks soon. What are you getting? I'm looking at khaki campbells, Welsh harlequin, and maybe the metzer 300. Maybe getting a couple other breeds to have some variety even if they aren't as productive.
