Will we be seeing a review of this set up anytime soon?
@edwardcorbett51706 жыл бұрын
Looking forward to a full review in the future, but VERY glad to see immediate impressions. New toys are exciting, so first impressions are always of value and interest! :)

Ronny, I want to thank you for your honest appraisal of the Dobinson set up. I have a PA 2 Challenger with just a little over 110k K,s (only about 500 k's off road thanks to Fraser Island) The factory springs and torsion bars are starting to look pretty damn tired. I'm off to spend my hard earned money on a 2 inch lift with Dobbo's. Cheers Mate.

The MRR's. We had them on our outback vehicle for a while. The big trip across the top of NT and WA and the Gibb Track, and on the way to Alice Springs the front left MRR failed. The connection of the hose to the shock leaked and no suspension control. No usable repair in Alice, replaced the shocks with Ironman Pro and had them revalved when we got back home. Way better for outback trips. Strong and large bulletproof shocks.

Rockhamptons Dobinson suspension winning. So far, these are the guys I won't to go for next. I think you will be up for the next lot before I am so I am looking forward to this.

Good first interspersion Ronny. I have the Dobinson suspension on my little truck after 20.000 still as good as the day I put them on..A top suspension I recommend this setup. Heading off to the Cape see how they on on this trip.

So, suddenly, watching this video, I got the idea for your 2011 videos! Nothing changed! Only a "little" changes on the Land Cruiser! Yep, since 2011.

Given the softer off-road set up that you selected and bearing in mind that you carry enough gear in the tray, (and now obviously towing), are you considering airbags to lift the back-end? Pros and Cons?
@eightballsidepocket6 жыл бұрын
Can't speak for Ronnie and his rig, but from what I have learned, an airbag setup must be planned well. I had simple in-coil bags for awhile and the problem was when the rig is light, the bags made the total spring rate too high. In rocky stuff the vehicle would pitch wildly side to side. It was super annoying. If you can run zero-psi capable airbags (if they make them), or adjustable shocks, you would be much better off. Hope that helps some.

Do you think adjustable coilovers in the front is the ideal way to go if your 4WD has the aftermarket support for it?
@greatsouthernland82634 жыл бұрын
Very informative thanks mate,
@billynunns6 жыл бұрын
Why haven't you tried the coil conversion?, Patriot Campers uses it and it looks like it works amazing and removed the leaf springs in the rear.
@Ronny_Dahl6 жыл бұрын
I’ve replied to someone else on here why. In short I don’t have 20k to spend and if I did I wouldn’t spend it on something I don’t feel I need. If I had a spare 20k to blow I’d get portals instead.

Hey Ronny, not related to this video but do you know if Dead Man Offroad are being sold through an Australian company yet? If not, how long did it take yours to get shipped to you? Cheers!

Did the PDP guys ever explain how they let such a bad suspension setup go for so long, did they not inspect your old suspension whilst servicing your car

Hello Ronny, it is 6 months from your last review of this suspension, any updates? I'm wondering about buy one of these versus OME kit. Any thoughts about it?
@TroopyLife5 жыл бұрын
I have the OME, can't fault it..........OME is only 2" though, so it comes down to what size you want.

Just wondering why you didn't choose efs or another brand?
@Ronny_Dahl6 жыл бұрын
I had EFS before which wasn't setup right, not the brands fault but the installers fault. I wasn't really thinking too much about which brand I went on a recommendation and so far so good. I had the opportunity to put a more pricey brand on the cruiser which had adjustable settings (popular one) but turned it down for a number of reasons one being no options for 3 inch. I don't want to drop down an inch I like and im used to 3 inches of lift.

Why wouldn’t you go for a coil suspension conversation for rear?
@fowletm19926 жыл бұрын
Lahiru Dasanayake simpler more reliable better load carrying with leafs
@Ronny_Dahl6 жыл бұрын
Leaf or parabolics are good enough for me, its a question I get asked a lot. I don't have 20k for coils and its not engineered as far as I know. It's I don't see it getting me further off-road but no doubt the ride would be nice if installed correctly.

bullthrush i thought he uses a Drifta camper. Pretty sure I saw a Drifta in the previous videos.

I'm guessing he has pulled both, at the beginning of this video ( 0:15 ) it looks like the Patriot X1, but his family vacation video he is definitely pulling a Drifta.

WEll call it a short term review then do a long term review. I think you overthink everything sometimes Ronny. You dont need to try and please everyone on youtube.
@Ronny_Dahl6 жыл бұрын
how do you mean? First impressions is not a review in my opinion. Too many people rate things based on no experience or time with products, that was the point I was trying make
@perpelle6 жыл бұрын
Talking about biased reviews, I think that you should mention if you payed full price for the suspension and the fitting or if you got a discount. Many, many times I have seen people get crap for almost nothing and praises it to the sky.
@essgee176 жыл бұрын
pelleper I think even if he did get them for free going on off his previous reviews (even though this wasn't a review yadda yadda) he is very unbiased regardless of whether they were purchased or not. He has even in some video somewhere I think admitted that being honest about free stuff may be to his detriment but he wanted to be honest.
@perpelle6 жыл бұрын
essgee17 My point is that he should be clear about the economical. Not saying that he is unbiased/biased.
@Ronny_Dahl6 жыл бұрын
Some items I pay for and some I don’t. I don’t think it matters really. If I paid for everything at full price I wouldn’t be reviewing much. I turn lots of items down too otherwise I’d just be a review channel! So long there is no money involved under the table to say things are better than what they are that’s what matters. If I was sponsored by let’s say ARB or TJM and I used their gear and did reviews on it there would be no value behind the opinion and rightfully so people won’t listen or believe a word, and why should they. Also it would restrict me from using other brands. Again I’m having to explain how it all works on my channel because of how corrupt the industry is when it comes to reviews. I know people that accept items and sell their soul only saying the good things about stuff and not pointing out the cons or the bad. I’ve gone though a lot of trouble to stay unbiased and turned down a lot of money sponsorship offers. Some people would say I’m stupid and maybe I am as this is the hard way of doing stuff but it works for me and the audience actually listens and trusts the channel. I don’t BS. At the end of the day if someone offers me Tyres, barwork, suspension or anything thing else I’ll happily accept it but I make sure they are aware of how my channel works and its unbiased reviews so I have the freedom to say how it is. Cheers Ronny
