New ADA Title II Rule Published in Federal Register: Compliance Dates Set for Digital Accessibility

State and local government entities now know the deadlines for compliance with the new Final Rule for digital accessibility under Title II of the ADA:
- April 24, 2026 for public entities with a population of 50,000 or more.
- April 26, 2027 for public entities and special district governments with a population of 50,000 or less.
The best path forward for compliance is to get started right now because making websites, web content, and mobile apps WCAG 2.1 AA conformant can take much longer than you might anticipate. I highly recommend that public entities training on WCAG 2.1 AA right away.
