I love the palette but I am one who doesn’t care about mattes. It’s all about the shimmers for me. I have plenty of mattes in my collection so that doesn’t bother me. But obviously when people are paying high prices, they should all be good.

I had a hard time with The Flying Fiddles Palette. The mattes were difficult but the multichromes were very pretty but for the price it’s a no for me! I just tried Terra Moon Cosmetics for the first time and they have a great matte formula!

I had the same experience with the mattes. I wonder if that is why Adept didn't send out PR this time, perhaps they didn't come out as intended, but they should give a lower price in that case. Otherwise they intended them to be sheer as a style choice which I'm okay with because I have these mattes in other palettes that perform great. Worth it for the shimmers for me at 20% off. But I totally get your disappointment!

I agree. I did notice there was no PR . I ordered anyway. I have tons of other Mattes like Viseart. Adept maybe should just go back to less mattes,and cut back the price.

I agree these mattes are sheer but I love them, I feel like they are more utilitarian, creating a soft shade to blend out the metallics. Your finished look was incredible!

I had this issue with my palette too,the mattes are sheer and I have deeper skin. I tried using the NYX cottage cheese stick with the yellow and purple and it helped. I love the shimmers 100%.The darker mattes work a bit better. Anyway, I have to play around and experiment. I feel like im not imagining the issues .Thanks for this review.

I feel better now. I was sooo tempted by the yellows but didn't purchase because i have plenty of Adept shimmers in other palettes that made it unreasonable for the price.

I used the ABH primer and a packing brush and got the yellow to show up. I need to play with it more, but the bottom row I wasn't thrilled with. The finished look was pretty.

I did my first look with this palette today, and I had a different experience! Please contact Adept, I think you got a dud! The yellow is indeed not as neon as it looks in the pan, but the mattes show up a LOT better for me. Now I am super pale, so that may play a factor in this, but I feel really bad for your experience!

I totally agree with your review. I wouldn't have even bought the palette were it not for the 2 pops of yellow but they got me! The yellow shimmer is stunning (like all the other shimmers), but that matte is a complete rip off.

What type of brush are you using for your mattes? I used my Sonia G T3 and T3S and they went on beautifully!!

You're the third person I've seen who's disappointed in the mattes! I understand why some folks are suggesting using a different primer or white eye base or packing the shades on without blending but we shouldn't have to alter the way we do our makeup just to make it work. Esp not at the $79 price point 😬 Thanks for your thoughts!

I haven't tried Adept yet: does their formula tend to perform well on more "mature" lids? I think most of the influencers I watch are younger than us so they don't have anything to say on that front.

I definitely have mature lids and yes, it performs GREAT!! Just use a eyeshadow base to prevent creasing!

I NEVER use adept matts, it's not needed to me,in not 👋. I use Natasha and Pat matts, and from adept I use only shimmers,multihromes....I saw in some bloggers was the same problem with matts from this palette, and yellow in the 1st place of the end

Those mattes do look pretty disappointing 😢 I really dislike sheer mattes, especially when there are so many good formulas out there especially with indie shadows. They even look patchy 😮 I i just did a look with a Natasha denona palette today and it's totally the opposite experience with the mattes

I think everyone else is saying what I was thinking. Pastels and neons are notoriously difficult in general and work best packed on with minimal blending and on a light/white base to really pop. That yellow looks like it’s actually a pastel neon, so that would be a doubly tricky shade. You were using a fluffy brush and trying to blend them on, so I’m not surprised they vanished and wouldn’t build. I actually saw another review before yours from a creator with a deeper skin tone, and she created a beautiful pastel look with the yellow and pink/purple in the crease and shimmers on the lid. I may go back and watch again to see how she did it, but I imagine she packed the color on and only blended the edges.

I’ve never had an issue with Adept mattes blending away and i always use a fluffy brush. I prefer my $80 palettes to he user friendly
