Note on Opportunity Seized: The way you explain it makes it sound like you can keep an enemy in combat by "following " them in their fall back move. The ability gives you a normal move though, which cannot end within engagement range. Still a useful ability, letting you reach spaces you might normally not have if the unit falling back was moveblocking, or letting you reach relative safety after your melee unit is left in the open after the enemy disengages.

Gonna copy/paste my comment on Proxy's video on this over here to please the algorithm gods: This is SUCH a jewel of an army rule. Intricate, universally applicable, not a complete given in terms of result with a lot of D6+1s, but can be gamed by playing the game well and positioning for a number of different potential outcomes. The Autarch in me loves the potential set up and reward of a well played army with this. It's so fluffy, reflecting on a lore-wise agile army that operates on imperfect precognitions by their seers that can result in both greatness and disappointment. Absolute chef's kiss on this, GW, almost makes up for the lack of an army box.

@@LoftOfTheUniverse Only melta and lances truly benefitted fully from fate dice. I get your point, as some other army rules are always active, and I'm not trying to "gotcha" you by saying that, but the fact alone that multiple of these abilities have the potential to make something like oath of moment effective for precisely zero units of an opposing marine force is just one example that there are definitely some great plays possible with all these movement tricks.

In game desing there is a thing call the magic triangle in wich for being a good desing you have to have 2 of these 3: speed, endurance, damage. The new battle focus gives us speed. My main problem is we are gonna lose a ton of damage, and specially damage reliability, with the lost of fate dice. Unless we get a damage buff or a point reduction we are gonna be an anoying fly with out a sting. The problem with banshees in 10th (and many other aeldari units) is that their damage output is really mid and the endurance of many armys is over the top. Unless we get some of our punch back (specially in melee) we are gonna be destroyed by enemy retaliation. The leaked buff to Fuegan gives me some hope, but I will allways be exceptical with GW.

I’m excited, I think it’s thematically fitting and more things will be useable. I love the image of a bunch of harlequin or banshees slipping past gunfire and closing in with some Tau or something. It kind of fixes something I’ve thought in the back of my mind, that Eldar on the tabletop kind of seem dumb compared to the lore. Their Elf agility just seems so much less effective then being a big tough guy like a Space Marine, and their guns aren’t usually that impressive compared to the Tau, the Necrons, or even the Imperium a lot of the time. These rules make it seem like their agile nature actually has combat advantages that keep them relevant on the battlefield. And it makes them seem smart at the same time, since they’re like a scalpel going for just the right spots.

This also answered my concern about swooping hawks loosing their skyleap ability for dropping grenades on units they fly over. That's just a obvious overwatch target and such a downtrade for the hawks. So many flyers in Aeldari have 14" move and can deal more damage. So what are we going to use the hawks for now? Well flittering shadows certaintly solves the problem. But still. I'm concerned about the hawks. Also, fade back could catapult wraithblades or the avatar across the midboard! Make an advance with the avatar into open terrain, get shot with fortune on him, and then move another D6+1" and the move again and then charge. He's pretty much sprinting across the battlefield. Secondly NERFS. All these abilities will probably go on a nerf-rollercoaster for months. Which just makes me tired.

Just saying this cuz i figure it will eventually be argued about. Fade back does not say after a unit has wounded, or has finished or completed shooting at your unit. It uses lower case "shot." It can be interpreted as once the opponent has rolled the dice to hit, or "shot" at your unit. This begs the question in that in super rare occurrences could the wounds be no longer applicable as the targets are out of range??? Or most likely get into cover to get +1 to your save.
@pkslade5276Күн бұрын
All "shots" happen simultaneously from a unit. So you can't pull this on someone. At the moment you declare which guns from your unit are being shot where, everything is locked in. E.g. you can't pull out of line of sight mid way through a units shooting etc.
@Goober2289Күн бұрын

@@albertoweinrichter5441 The phrase "movement wins games" just means the player that positions their units more skillfully usually wins. It doesn't mean the fastest army always wins. Without reasonable offense OR defense, it's bad design. Good design philosophy states that a game piece should include exactly 2 out of 3 qualities between power, speed, and endurance.
