Airfix Austin K2/Y Ambulance build part 2 - painting and weathering. In the previous video I built the brand new ‪@OfficialAirfix‬ 1:35 K2 Ambulance and painted it in the caunter camouflage scheme using AK Real Colours paints. In this video I weather the ambulance by applying chipping effects with a brush and a sponge and using Abteilung 502 oil paints to add a pin wash, grime, and dust effects. I also use oil paints to apply streaking effects and finish the model with a light, thin dust coat to bring all the elements together. You can find the Airfix ambulance here: prf.hn/l/xnyqe9z and you can see part 1 of the build here: • New Airfix K2/Y Ambula...

Yes - the impression I got from the recent Airfix Creators' Day was that they were really keen to listen to feedback from the community and were making a real effort to address some issues they've had in the past.

Absolute stunning build there mate! I’m on this kit at the moment. Just getting towards the final paint stage before decals. Lovely kit to build. Probably the most fiddly bit for me was the stretcher frame assembly on the inner upper rear sides. Apart from that it’s very detailed! I did add a resin pillow, bag and blanket set by red zebra models, just to add that extra bit! Lovely channel you have!

That turned out absolutely outstanding, you have brought out the look of the vehicle perfectly, as for the back step, I think it would have been timber slabs on a metal frame, but what the heck it was your build, congratulations on a job well done.

Thanks mate. Yes, it really is a fun kit. I'm going to look for more kits like this, where the interior is actually useful and visible, rather than the interiors on most tanks. (That said, I've got a Tiger with full interior "on the list").

Just caught up with your build, nice job. The rear step is wood in a metal frame I believe, but chipping is ok and not overdone. I'm impressed with the camo markings and weathering; you've made great job of that. I'll have to try that on my build. Cheers Bob 👍
