Today I make a collage layout in my latest altered book using original vintage ephemera. Follow along to see how it goes from blank page to finished layout.
To see my online courses, including How to Alter a Board Book, they are here:

I also have a boatload of free printables of vintage paper and book covers scanned from my private collection. Check out the post to see them and how to make copies even if you don’t have a printer.

Well hello Gilly. Thanks for this. I haven't done a collage video in yonks but I felt like it was about all I could handle this week and making, just playing with elements and letting them tell me where they need to be on the page, is a healing thing. Kelly

Thank you dear Donna. I'm not sure about the binding. At this point I'd like to leave it so you can see the buckram but it may be that when it chunks up that will not be viable. I'll keep you posted!

Hi Patti. Thanks for this. It is truly nice to hear. The first time you cut something like this out it is a shock but more and more I come to realise that so many of these old, crinkled, delicate magazine pages on newsprint are just going to turn to dust if they aren't turned into something else and this way they can go another round. Hi Kimberly. That's one of the things that I adore about really old animal drawings - you get the feeling that they are just making it up as they go along and who is going to contradict them? I like to add something a little droll (is that the right word) to offset the intense pretty. Pretty is fine, I like it, but a little bit wry is even better.
@JournalBreezeYT
@JournalBreezeYT 17 күн бұрын
@BookandPaperArts I hear that! It does arise curiosity in one. I also wondered if it was real somewhere or at sometime on earth. I've come to realize after watching hundreds of animal Reels on IG, that there are many animals out there in people's homes that are new to me. Your wry one looks ancient 😉

Hi there. Thanks for stopping by and the feedback. You are quite right about orienting the pansy although I do find that sometimes when I am improvising I squint my eyes and turn things around anyway. It builds character. 😺
@greenspiral2955
@greenspiral2955 17 күн бұрын
@BookandPaperArts funny you should say about squinting eyes as this is something I want to do a lot more of! Also sometimes I just have to leave a comment to show appreciation and of course boost the algorithm too. There is just soo much talent on here and thanks to kind voices such as yours are always a good reminder to 'less daunting, more daring dear'.

I love the way the pages turned out, although I know they’re not finished. The fact that they’re black and white takes us back to old times and gives it a bit of melancholy look (in a good way). It’s really one of my favourites 🖤🩶🤍🖤🩶🤍🖤🩶🤍🖤🩶🤍
