You can get wild Altima to adjust to a 7-7.5 ph. Just keep the tds low. I’ve done it a bunch and have grown out beauties doing so

More updates on these beauties. I just got 8 Orinoco Altums. Wild caught. They’re doing good and ravenous feeders maybe because there are other fish in the tank. They seem to be in competition for the food which is good. They’re in a 55 gal quarantine take after 3 weeks. Ready to move them to a 180 tall.

Man, you make it to complicated. My altums stay in ph of 7.4 and in hard water. I use tap water. Its so simple for me. I don't get it.

that just means someone brought the fish up to your ph over a period of time.. wild altums cant survive in ph of 7.4 .. especially when they are just taken from the wild!

@@AquaMalik well, I did get 5 inch fish and the guy that I got them from, his South American suppliers keep all their wild fish in a ph of 7.0 for 6 or more weeks and deworms them, puts them in ph water of 7.2 for 2 weeks and ships them. My importers water ph is 7.2. When I git them from him, I've had no problems. My friend has his in 7.8-8.0 depending on time of year, granted we both keep drift wood in our tanks. I also have wild discus and they are excellent in hard water and are hardier than domestic discus. I got my discus to breed. I'd try to do my angels, but I'm not going to fool with water and try to get my ph at 6.7
