The 2024 version has 1 more gb of ram and a slightly brighter screen but that's all.

Small improvements but definitely meaningful ones. I don’t think it’s worth upgrading if you already have the 2022 model, but if you have an older Fire Tablet or the the Fire 7 (from any year), it could be worth picking up!

Thank you for this! I've been looking to buy the 2022 version to read ebooks (I already own a Kindle, but I want to read manga and my Ipad is too big for that) and was wondering which to buy. I'll probably just go with the 2022 version since it seems like it'll get a good discount for Prime Day

Amazon offers both at the same price but if they liquidate the 8 - 2022 editions for $30 like they did for the fire HD 7 in 2023, I would get the 2022s. 👍

Are any of the Fire tablets compatible with USB-C headphones? I bought a pair of headphones that connect via USB-C for my iPhone and I’m curious if those will work with any of these tablets as well, or will I need to buy another pair with the regular headphone jack 😅

Isn't ai on the HD 8 and if you,have a kids edition tablet upgrade now cause they only have 2gb o f ram but the new HD 8 has 4gb of ram so the difference might also be smooth performance not fast.

great review! i brought one for less than £50 new but i will install remote play as well remote play services - as well as emulators and playstore - will it work ?

Hi snes emulator should work if you have playstore but ps emulator you can have lag. It depends on the app but for $50, it does what it suppose to do well

I have the 2024 model with 4GB of ram and it doesn’t feel any faster than the 2018 model 😮

It should definitely feel faster because I have them both and the 2018 is much slower.

@@TheFrenchGlow I agree. The ram utilization never seems to go past 1.8GB. I should also state, I have side loaded Google Play. Perhaps apps just aren’t optimized.

Side loading Google play always slows fire tabs down significantly. I've owned many different fire tabs through the years and it happens every single time

More than likely no . However, if you get the 64GB version you do get an extra gigabyte of RAM compared to the base 32GB version of the Fire 8. Weird decision by Amazon but that’s how it shows up when you add it to your shopping cart on the website.

Great review as always. You are so right that it is the same as the 2022 Plus version with the only real change of 4 GB of RAM with the 64GB storage version. Not sure if that really improves that version in any significant amount.

It has an octocore processor and a bigger screen and battery. I wouldn't say better because some people prefer the smaller size of the 8
