I have two RGXXSP one blue and one see through black. I love them I just got it to trade Pokémon wirelessly. I took it to China and back I have been able to complete SNES games from my childhood and my large library of GBA games I have not completed. I don't have to worry about if it breaks or blows up vs my 3ds, NDS, or NDS lite. I keep those locked up and safe. The re-sellers' market on the old retro consoles is out of control and I can pocket this thing without a problem. I charge mine regularly, but I keep it on a solid non or less flammable surface. Never had a charging issue or battery issue, bought mine when it launched. Just my opinion use it and if it breaks or blows up, I just hope my micro sd card doesn't go with it. Might back up my saves to the cloud. I 100% understand your stance on not watching your devices while they charge. all my stuff charges next to me usually so I can unplug if I see or smell smoke.

I once got to try both revisions in a brick-and-mortar store, and one thing I noticed that the ABXY keys might tilt on the side if pressed on any point but dead center. It's definitely not the same as the original GBASP where pushing everywhere mostly still pushed the whole button evenly downwards. It's the issue with the internals of the buttons, which some people say have been redesigned but some say have not.
@CNP02311 сағат бұрын
The only issue, I have with the battery at fully charged is the drain while it being powered off for the night and next day it is at anywhere between 85-90% on both of my rg35xxsp's. That is an insane amount of discharge while the device is off. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing that but I ordered two battery replacements to see if that fixes it.

Pretty shady tbh just to save a quick buck. I know others do it like ayn but at least they use decent ones and know how to get Android to charge at the correct rate Odin 2 charges up to 65w my charger is 35 it doesn't even max that out.

That advice about not charging LiPo batteries unattended applies to the vast majority of LiPo batteries though. Laptops, Prius' and the like have sophisticated monitoring but these things and 'naked' batteries that you charge outside the device don't so best to keep an eye on them during charging. Once charged, they're very safe. If in doubt, charge it in a saucepan!

4:43 I think you're kinda over exaggerating here... I'm about to purchase this device because honestly I searched everywhere (as a complete noob on the matter) for the most similar device possible to the original SP and what I was thinking about doing was: plug the device to charge (with a low voltage charger and usb-a to usb-c cable all that stuff), do whatever for a couple hours and just go to unplug it. I can't see any possible issue if you just use logic and avoid leaving it plugged in for many more hours than what's necessary or use a much more modern charger. That being said, I haven't placed my order yet so if anyone miraculously sees this comment and has some suggestions or insight for a complete ignorant on buying his first cute emulator, I'm all ears :) Also thank you so much for the video, it's genuinely incredible how much stuff about those devices there is, I remember thinking using an emulator on a regular pc was already quite hard lol!!

Can you try slowly opening them both and see how stiff the new one is compared to the original. No need to make a video just would like to hear a reply if you can. Thanks Joey for your honest reviews. I have a video on my splitting hinge you can see what I mean.

@@JoeysRetroHandhelds Thanks for checking Joey. That's a bummer to hear that no change was made to the hinge. Had one viewer say they are on there second shell replacement and are hoping this one lasts so that's rough. Too bad I am a sucker for the clear shells my silver model doesn't have the issue, the paint could hide it till the hinge fails. The charging issue seems to be a bigger concern anyway more than longevity of the hinge at this point. Cool idea just poor execution. Anbernic was slow to get CtoC working on their devices in the first place. I remember I received an OG RG35xx that actually would charge via CtoC and was surprised since it wasn't supposed to according to all the reviews I saw. I know we should never have to deal with batteries blowing up or catching fire, but that’s the risk of Lithium batteries. We kind of slowly accepted the inherent risk that Lithium batteries bring when we started switching alll high voltage battery powered devices over to Lithium and then low voltage devices started making the transition to Lithium not soon after. Every Lithium battery I have ever charged always came with a warning not to leave your battery charging unattended. I know it sounds stupid and inconvenient, but in defense of Anbernic, that warning comes with practically every lithium battery I have ever charged in my life. Hopefully, Anbernic will be very diligent from this point forward to make sure we get good quality stable lithium battery packs that won’t catch fire…. 🔥 😮

A few thoughts: • That jacket is fire. • Something else that is fire are my skills at "NHL 07" for PSP. I was fiddling around with my SP, as one does, and decided to copy over my UMD library to my SP's second memory card. "NHL 07" plays perfectly on the SP with an unnoticeable 1X frameskip. It feels like it was ported, it's so good on the SP. I think the d-pad makes aiming more accurate because my Blue Jackets ended up lighting up the Leafs 9-2 on Difficult Mode. Rick Nash, David Vyborny, and Rusty Klesla FTW! I felt kind of silly doing this because I have an actual PSP as well as a reasonably nice phone that can upscale it multiple times; but, I was bored. • "Madden NFL 12" for PSP also plays perfectly. I couldn't get "NFL 2K2" for Dreamcast to do much of anything; but, a decade newer PSP Madden runs practically perfect. Okay then. • I've never got around to upgrading to C-C cables. Other than the one for my Galaxy Watch, all my bricks are USB-A and cables are still A to C. Knock on imitation wood veneer; but, so far so good. I've gotten to the point where I trust it enough to not play nursemaid to my SP while it charges. I'm still not going to let it charge while I'm asleep, but, I try not to do that ever with anything. • Your clear SP reminds me of prison. I was never there; but, I did watch a video about prison electronics once. In many places they're required by law to be clear so the prisoner who owns it can't hide contraband. This applies to handhelds, headphones, TVs, etc.

Honestly, people keep claiming that Anbernic has good build quality, and sure they might feel good in the hand, but they always have crippling basic quality and safety flaws. The easily bendable screen on 35xx+/h. Cardinal snapping. Charging issues (it's been at over a year! Spend the extra 25 cents per unit). Terrible software where it took them 2 years to figure out a basic sleep mode. (a different rant but I don't think community software makes up for it, with battery issues on knulli and sacrifices on minui, bugs because of the small teams etc. Nothing against the teams, incredible work, but not an excuse for supporting anbernic) And now they are basically producing what's going to be e-waste within two years with their lack of basic quality assurance and exploding batteries. As long as they keep pushing out devices at this tempo, they will never change or improve. Thank god for retroid, AYN, and even TRIM to an extent.
