The mana burning talent is literally just Nyx's innate. And impale actually DOES deal damage up-front now, I can't remember if that was this update or a previous one but I do remember reading that patch note.

It's not the innate but one of his Facets. His Innate is a free Gem when invis units are within 400 units of him. Still, the same point stands.

It was the update where they replaced mana burn with mindflare to make it so that you dont have to wait for the impaled target to land to deal the extra damage.

Impale has been doing damage before the stun for years ( it's weird) but with the w rework it works since you can use it during the stun to get use of the damage and don't have to wait for them to land

The mana talent, just like Nyx's innate, is based on the damage being dealt. It's not a flat value burned every time damage is dealt. This means that the only heroes who EVER actually get burned out by it are tanks, and that's it. Casters have way more mana than health, and often more mana regen- certainly nowhere near the ratio needed for 16% damage dealt as mana burn to matter (You'd need EIGHT TIMES more health than mana!). Right clickers don't *need* their mana to deal damage, most of the time, so although they do often heal fast enough due to lifesteal for their mana to actually burn out before dying- it often doesn't really matter. Only tanks, who often rely on their active abilities to round out their kit (either as a critical offensive or defensive tool), and who often have far more health and health regen than mana and mana regen are actually at risk of both being burned out of mana AND dying because of it. The actual innate in Normal Dota has the exact same issue- Nyx's mana burn used to be based on the mana of the target, but now its based on Nyx's own damage. Which has flipped its ideal target from spellcasters to tanks, which the still very burst-damage oriented Nyx definitely does not want to fight. Meaning that at the moment Nyx Assassin's innate is kind of absolutely fucking worthless past the very very very early game where even spellcasters buy health regen for lanestay (and thus *could* feasibly run out of mana long-term)

First of all mana burn is a facets and secondly its based on the targets current mana. So if you impale someone you burn like 30% of their current mana. So its really easy to burn someone out of their mana by doing a quick combo. Also, nyx solo kill potential on a squishy hero is still there, i dont see any int hero surviving a ult, stun + khanda, dagon + mana burn combo.

Im 99% sure you are wrong. Im pretty sure radiance doesnt work with the nyx facet, it doesnt work in vanilla dota and likely was coded that way. Theres smth about needing to deal 100 dmg to proc the mana burn, and it wouldnt surprise me if valve excluded a few of the items from being able to proc it
