3:40 Here's a general question for experienced shooters and military types. I've never been in action ( I was in Comms - behind the lines, as it were, in the Navy) but one thing has often bothered me watching many of these videos. They depict such rifles with lights on them, and the user entering, say, a dark building, after the target, with his gun light on and pointing where his rifle points. What is the purpose of this? Surely all you're doing is showing the target exactly where YOU are, and not where HE/SHE is? By the time you've found the target with the light he/she has got you nailed! Thanks.

Have you ever been flashed by flashlights? They are bright and make your head turn away instinctively.
@dennisleighton28122 жыл бұрын
@@chltmdwp I get that, but that ONLY applies IF the other person knows where you are! The chances of him shining on you first time out (if you are the defender) is minimal. The instant he switches his light on, you know where he is, while he still has to find out where you are. This gives you a huge advantage. When you are assaulting, then it's slightly different, provided you have a good idea where the defender actually is. Is this not why Spec Ops operatives usually toss a flashbang in first to disorient the defenders somewhat? I'm not putting myself up as an expert, I'm just trying to use logic and to understand better. Thanks for your comment.

So a lot of confusion here on terminology. The Scar 17s and the Scar Mk17 are the exact same Battle rifle with the same bolts except the mk17 allows full auto when requested. Everything else is the same. As for rounds, NO. .308 and 7.62x51 NATO are not the same round. They are extremely similar in size but have difference in pressure in the cartridge. Can you fire .308 in a Scar17S without damaging the Bolt? Yes. Whenever you see a Gun say “multi caliber” it doesn’t mean you can shoot 5.56 and 7.62, it means you can shoot a military round or it’s civilian equivalent. That’s because the bolt assembly can handle the higher pressure of the civilian variant. So Yes, you can shoot .308 no problem in a Scar17S or a Scar Mk17. By the way, you cannot shoot .223 in Guns that shoot only 5.56. If you do, you may crack the bolt. Unless you replace the BCG or you make sure the rifle says “multi caliber” Examples would be Daniel Defense Mk18 will shoot .223 or 5.56. Lastly, the gas block actually isn’t used for any suppressor. FN will void your warranty if you use one and adjust your gas block. FN states the gas block is actually used to better handle in inclimate weather. Bonus: it’s not an AR, it’s a FN Scar. AR doesn’t stand for Assault Rifle and if that’s what was meant, the Scar 17s and Scar Mk17 is a battle rifle. Assault Rifle: Shoots round like .223, 5.56, 300 Blackout Battle Rifle: Semi-Auto to Auto rifle that shoots machine gun rounds such as .308 or 7.62x51, etc. Machine Gun: belt fed rounds with full auto mode Sub-machine gun: automatic rifle that shoots pistol or handgun rounds like 9mm, .45, etc.

When will someone do a review and field strip the gun? I want to see how the NRCH works. I’ve seen every video on the new scar and they are all the same.
@JohnZ5563 жыл бұрын
Not that different actually, the CHs are riding on a CH slide instead of the carrier. That's the only extra piece. Basically the CH slide has a hook, that is either hooked onto the receiver (nrch) OR hooked onto the carrier (when charging or forward assist). Letting go of the CH when charging will make the CH slide unlock from the carrier and onto the receiver by momentum. So a side note, the claim by FN of lower carrier mass is true. But only by a little, mainly from the slots for the CH slide logs to ride or pushing upon when charging. And the width reduced from having a CH slide warping around the front slotted portion. Hope this helps a little, you can always reference their manual.
@JohnZ5563 жыл бұрын
When I first heard about NRCH SCAR, I thought they might have used a longer piston, and shortened the carrier significantly while while using a CH slide. But my initial hypothesis was wrong, I guess messing with the action too much can result in significant reengineering and reevaluation of the platform. ($$$$$) So it make sense they used a solution with least amount of change and maximized the chance of keeping the reliability.

The old ones are not compatible as they are a different design. The good news is that only one is required and it can be either one on either side. Keeping in mind that they don't reciprocate so you don't have to worry about getting hit, you can decide how you want to configure it.
