Lata Mangeshkar, on her third show of her second musical safari to Kenya (the first was in 1971) that she performed at Kenyatta Conference Centre (Nairobi, Kenya) which ran for four hours each to packed audiences. This track concluded her performance with the world famous song of 'Malaika' that she sang for the first time in Swahili, the official language spoken in Kenya and in other parts of East Africa as well.
This was only her third foreign musical tour outside of India at that time. She sang the song again in London in 1983 at the Royal Albert Hall as a tribute to the Indians who migrated from East Africa.
Malaika was originally sung by Kenya's Fadhili William (1938-2001).
