I'm glad someone finally put this out. It was one of the 1st things I tested in this game. I'm a Budokai Vet in general, I grew up playing all of them, and these semi charged heavy attacks (I call the buffered heavys) were used even back in the original Budokai. It's dope seeing people start to use this tactic. It really adds a lot of mind-games and mix ups once the opponent is conditioned enough. I love using them in a row sometimes to throw opponents off. You can do it up to 5 times in one combo, but if you delay it just enough, you can reset the combo over and over. I love doing these attacks with Broly, Super Trunks, and Majin Vegeta. Once mastered you can also interrupt characters with built in hyper armor like giants and Broly.

Also meant to mention Gotenks. Gotenks base and super saiyan can't use the buffered heavys. He has a built-in recovery that doesn't allow him to continue the attacks fast enough. His Ssj 3 can use the heavys, tho. To my knowledge, he is the only character like this. I actually like it because it fits Gotenks cocky attitude, lol

its crazy because if you play BT3, the extended combo everyone uses when you press the step in after 5 punches, you could only do once. i would usually start by pressing punch 4x then punchLEFT, punch4x punchRIGHT, so on and so on. that was the first thing i did when i got this game. its crazy you found a way to actually do it! ive always said to myself damn the barely charged attack is so slow now you cant just extend a normal combo with it but this is the perfect way to use it

You just hold button slightly like a half a second for the charged attacks or just look for the instant your character makes the animation of the move

I’ve been telling people to stagger their combos to overcome supercounter spam and they just refused to learn or accept that it works against super counter. Also you can reset your combos but doing either a charged gut punch/kick, or a fully charge sweep, and then importantly dragon dashing away to then Z Burst Dash back on to them, this is how I usually stagger my combos too, along with what you’ve shown here, the main way to get out of what I guess we’ll call staggered combos is to try and vanish them instead, because the timing for vanishing them is easier than super counter, and your not exactly locked in hitstun enough to not vanish unlike with standard rush chain combos.

You can also do it in the middle of combos to extend them. Also when you do the normal heavy on a leg sweep on the ground it makes them stand up it’s pretty cool not a lot of people know about it.

Staggering your string is an intermediate skill that not a lot of ppl do because for one most ppl aren’t exploring their chars strings their just mashing the string out so they don’t get super countered and throwing a triangle in there here and there but imo the main reason why ppl don’t use the charged smash attacks in combo is because in SZ the start up for them is insanely high. It doesn’t feel as fluid to use them than the last iteration and with them being that slow and super counterable and how the community develops and takes in and utilizes the current tech I can see why this strategy is under utilized

Just wana throw out here now with the new patch you are now able to Smash in between attacks SEAMLESSLY, so while you are rush attacking you can now tilt your sticks or charge your next normal rush into a smash. This is a really big change because they ALSO gave a bit more armor to smashes and you can't be stunned out them from ki blasts!! Use this guys!! Example: I use xbox so mines would be X, X, X, Up+Held X for an up smash, or X hold X to go into an immediate neutral smash off one hit. A major fix no one is really talking about imho Sky.

The only issue with these combos from my experience is that in training the character actually stays stunned for the full duration of an attack. Like if ur a split second too slow doing the dash attack after the 4 lights they can turn around and it’s happened to me NUMEROUS times. And these combos are even slower than me trying to do the regular combos

This is why Sparking Zero needs a real training mode. This stuff shouldn’t be used too often! It’s very difficult to super counter but you can vanish instead and that has a way easier window.

I’m no expert but I lab a lot . Experiment with different capsules as well because some capsules help charge time on smash attacks and things like that

I can probably deflect these slow combos because I don’t see many people actually know how to counter slow characters like I do. What I would do in that situation is slower down the SC which means instead of pressing it fast I would put the speed to match up with your hits. @snapjaw2 That combo isn't very super counterable as it is vanishable and when your opponent vanishes instead of super counters they will be behind you without having to win a vanish war so you will be guaranteed to take damage.

it’s still worth incorporating in your bag. I start with regular combos to condition my opponent. I see them spamming super counter, we hit them with sky combos.

@@Moneybagyo131 This isn't exactly new though, this existed since long before BT3, the way the did light charged attacks just makes it a bit more tricky but if your opponent doesn't have to deal with lag they will vanish, I've seen people attempt this against me and I actually prefer dealing with this than having to Super Counter. It works though so you can give it that, just depends on the opponent.
