Well, the thing that is of value is that you locked in at the time of reveal. Nili is and was right that you could just assign civs numbers and throw a dice. The problem is the human that sometimes would overrule that dice.

I think you misswd the biggest QoL-change: you can now have a queue of gathering-points from buildings, so the spawning units walk a given route. This allows you to automatically navigate New units from weirdly placed buildings around the enemy army to join your units 🎉

Khmer are the biggest winner with this patch. Great elephants that have greater conversion resistance, arguably the best scorpion civ that'll now have ballistics with double crossbow, and Ballista Elephants with ballistics. Biggest loser are Romans as they are an underutilized civ due to other civs doing what they do but better on all maps, and now have no second civ bonus it seems.

What Romans do, they still do well. They still have the discount on their scorpions (still much easier for them to mass scorpions than it is for the Khmer, so I think Romans are still the better scorpion civ, though it was debatable even before the patch), they still have a UT increasing scorpion attack speed, and they still have their very strong 5% economy bonus. They're still very strong in Feudal age (easily top-tier). And they're still great in team games where allies can cover their weaknesses. Ballistics on scorpions being made general (rather than a Roman-only thing) isn't going to weaken Romans, it just makes every other civ a little bit better (but since most tend not to use scorpions, it's not much of a buff). The biggest limitation to Romans is the relatively pricey DLC they're gated behind. In AoE stat's pick rates, Romans are above most of the other DLC civs (exceptions being Bohemians in team games and 1v1, and Georgians in 1v1) and above Burmese. Though Khmer are a big winner of this patch. Though I think Bengalis also benefit big-time (their battle elephants will take forever to convert).

Not sure if you noticed, you can shift set waypoints for units produced out of buildings to follow, which seems to be a somewhat major quality of life change as well.

An idea to improve the random civ pool: make it a civ playlist editor where you can create different pools. For example: in one game I might want to play with an archers civs pool, and the next game with a cavalery civs pool. If you allow to make different pools that you can save that would be even better! what do you think?

I like the changes to scorpions, elphants and rams, buff least used units. For scorpions I think a good Bonus for them would be increase speed by a little and decrease its collision. When i have played with them you need a death ball but they bump into everything. Castile age ram could be cheaper as well. Rams are next to inf for destroying castiles, meansing just go imp and tib or bombarb.

The custom thing is GREAT for me as a 1200 ELO player where I'm familiar with a good amount of the civs, but really struggle if I get one of the ones I have no idea how to play. I'm sure my opponents will benefit from that as well, but I think it will make for better games where we both know what we're doing.

I don't think ballista elephants getting ballistics will really affect much. Their counters of rams and mangos already don't care to dodge. I think what it will affect most is charging cav, since you won't be able to go to the side a bit to dodge bolts anymore

The Romans only benefit now to their scorpions is that their base scopions benefit from ballistics while regular scorpions have to be upgraded to heavy scorpions before they are affected by ballistics also the ballista elephants look like they have to be elite before they benefit from ballistics. Maybe one thing they can do to benefit the Romans is giving them ballistics for free and maybe making the heavy scorpion upgrade cheaper.

The organ guns increase in creation time may help to reduce Phosphorus type strategies, but doesnt solve the underlying issue of high DPS with essentially AOE-type damage. Since this thing has 7 optical guns and 4 projectiles, it should have a reload time close to 4 times other gunpowder units...

With this scorpion buff infantry is dead. They should rebalance it so that militia line is basically a cheap filler unit you can get fast as a meatshield & spear and skirm counter. Lower the damage, lower the health, ever so slightly buff movement speed, make gold cost minimal, add a small bonus damage against buildings. Lower man-at-arms and longsword upgrade cost and research time. Lower the training time. Make champion an upgrade only select infantry civs get, together with gambesons, supplies, and arson. Researching champion and all the other techs should then make this filler unit into a real powerhouse. Still easily countered by mass arbs or a handful of siege behind cover, but they shred anything else, buildings included. If a civ has access to champions you then know that they're gonna be a powerhouse if they get all the upgrades late imperial. Make the champion upgrade slow to research and expensive, similar to paladin. This way the militia line is good to mix in to feudal armies for any generic civ, or as a unit to stabilize your base if you lost a fight and need units quickly, or indeed as a low-commitment halb counter. Meanwhile for civs like Goths and Slavs they can be a viable late-game powerhouse unit if they can get all the upgrades and time it so the enemy hasn't already fielded a counter (like heavy scorps with ballistics).

Fawing just one civ for custom pool is not a good idea, you create a game with random civ selection and one choose the civ he wants, it needs to be restricted for example five civ in the pool at least, can be more but no less..

That ballista elephant buff is way to strong. If you mass them in lower elo, you cant do anything about it. The only way is to play siege onager, but it takes so long to get to them and mass them, expensive too. I can life with that scorpion buff, because heavy scorpion is kinda rare to see. But ballista elephants need a rework or nerf them, so you cant mass them to easy. Iam at 1200 elo and that is my most hated and unfun unit to play against.

All balance changes were ok but i m sure at my elo scorps will be unstoppable. Atleast give some alternative to stop this scorp army. Like give some civ bonus or attack bonus versus tech versus siege in general or scorps or something to balance it. Scorps r going to be insane and i can see next few games people just going for mass scorps and they ll be unstoppable once they reach a certain number.
