Mine saying that to finish pairing my apple watch must be running the latest version of watchOS..but after i select the "update now" button it says "watchOS 5.3.7 your software is up to date"..then now im stuck and the only option i have is the cancel button, which will lead me to exiting and cancelling the pairing.. Any idea? Btw my iphone running latest firmware 13.5.1

I had the same issue and found out that older Watches are not compatible with the new iOS 13. Wasted 3 hours to find out what they should've been able to tell me with the information I gave in the first 5 minutes.

contact Apple Supprt on Your iPhone and send it out to them for them to reset the watch and update it thru their computer, i been thru that with my apple watch series 1 2nd gen

Hi. I found out that the gen 1 watches max out at Watch OS 4.3.2 and that OS is not compatible with iOS 13. Which basically means that if you upgrade to a new phone with an old watch, you could end up not being able to use the watch anymore, even if it's in perfect working condition. So the watch can only be used with and iPhone 6 or older. So at this point, there's nothing I can do with the watch except throw it in the trash, as it can't be traded in either!

Puneet Sharma yes I asked an apple employee; Apple Watch series 1&2 cannot be paired to any device on iOS 14 and above even if you reset phone to it’s stock ios it would still tell you to update phone to pair the watch so you basically cannot pair the watch at all. Only the series 3 can now only be paired to any iPhone 6 and above, any phone below that can’t.

Well I got my old apple watch out to and tried to pair it to my new phone but it gets stuck on the software update. It will pair initially but it prompts a software update which consistently fails. My phone is updated to 13.3 as well and I've pretty much exhausted all options. I removed the watch from my icloud devices erased and unpaired the apple watch but nothing.

Ridwan Aminul yeah it worked itself out. Eventually I was able to download the watch app again although I’m not sure why it just all of a sudden worked. And then to get the watch software update working I switched off WiFi and used data and that seemed to work. Give it a shot no guarantees though it was a finicky process

I just keep getting Activation error no matter what I do. Even manual setup I still get activation error. And just for extra shits and giggles, I can't log back onto wifi after resetting. Well done Apple. Edit: I had better luck without wifi connected.

It sounds like your apple watch may be running a later version of watch os then your iPhone supports. Most users I've worked with have been getting that message when their apple watch is running watch os 6 which needs ios 13 and above to work.

It sounds like the Apple Watch is looking for iOS 13 and above which means that the firmware in the Apple Watch is probably a higher one, whatever you get that message it's usually a compatibility issue even though the Apple Watch Series 2 should work with the 5s the firmware inside the Apple Watch is too high it's looking for a higher iOS in order to work you have to reach out to Apple I'm not sure if they have a solution but they may have a suggestion.

Coming to figure out what’s going on with my Apple Watch + IPhone. I’ve had this Apple Watch for two years now and everything has been fine. For some reason I was having battery life uses so my Apple Watch wasn’t working correctly, I’ve also tried upgrading its software and it wouldn’t even go through that process. After trying to unpair + repair so many times my Apple Watch won’t even pair to my phone anymore. No matter how many times I restart the watch, it isn’t even allowing me to go into any setting options on the watch because it’s stuck on the pairing screen. I’ve talked to Apple, and they want to charge me the same amount of money I bought the watch for to even fix it, so def not worth it as I’m planning on getting the new Apple Watch 6 when it comes out, was just hoping I could get this fixed in the meantime.

Apple product is just stupid. This should be a simple thing but they make it so hard. Your suggestions are just common tries, it is not really specfic to this issue. If you dont know the cause, you cant fix it for sure.

I've had my Apple watch (Series 3) for awhile now, but it recently unpaired from my iPhone (10). I updated my iPhone... and during the repairing process, I updated the Apple Watch software. The update downloads, but when uploading to the Watch, always gets stuck... and it says 'update failed due to inactivity.' It's f***ing annoying. I've restarted both devices and tried this 10x over.

“Could not sign in.” “There was a problem connecting to the server.” I’m starting to think iOS software platform is problematic. I’ve done all of the options available when trying to connect an Apple Watch…now the same error pops up every time. Months ago while setting up the same Apple Watch, I would get to the sign in with your Apple ID, and it acted as if I was putting in the wrong credentials, and would go into a continuous loop asking me to sign in, until Apple locked me out of the account permanently. I know I put the credentials in correctly ( i could sign in everywhere else ). Created a new account and same thing occurred!
