I think the hang on back filter is the right call for a tank like this. Easy to take care of and does the job.

You can put an aquarium anywhere. Respectable effort. Looking forward to the progress. I am growing Monte Carlo carpet in my 2.5 gallon nano with a similar light but only on 60% intensity but no co2.
