A new dedicated astrophotography camera, the ZWO ASI533 MC Pro.
Full Post: astrobackyard.com/zwo-asi533m...
Order Online: bit.ly/3J11fLP
In this video, I test out the new ZWO ASI533 MC Pro color camera for astrophotography in the backyard.
I show you how I set up the spacing with my Sky-Watcher Esprit 100 telescope and Starizona APEX 0.65X reducer/flattener.
The final image includes just 13 x 4-minutes of exposure time. Expect a lot more information about the ZWO ASI533 in the near future!

I'm setting up again with this rig as we speak (another clear November night!). I'll try the ASI533 WITHOUT the reducer next to give you a better idea of the FOV you can expect with a 500-600mm refractor. Thank you guys for watching! Clear skies

I'm super new to this but it makes 100% perfect sense to setup in the daytime. I work nights am in the middle of doing an engine swap on my car. Working on in it at night is rough. Even in the lit up garage with extra lighting. Just not the same as true daylight. I spend so much time looking for something the shadows.

I have the ZWO ASI294 pro, and it is awesome, I have the skywatcher 100 esprit as well, and the results I get are truly stunning, all thanks to you Trevor. I have been following you for many years and I have learnt so much. I use the ASIAIR controller wireless to my laptop and as a result, I now do most of my astrophotography from indoors, which is great on these cold nights. My sincere thanks go to you :-)

Hi Trevor, I would have loved to know more about this camera. How does it compare to the ASI294MC on the same setup? Is there really no amp glow? is the 533 overall better than the 294 because of the smaller pixel? Is is more sensitive ? Would it be a better match for a RASA8 because the pixel size of the 294 is I think a little big for that telescope? We see your final image and it look great I must say, but it would have been great to compare it with an image from the 294 taken the same night.

It just goes to demonstrate the value of clear dark sky when you're not on a school night! ;) I'm trying my hardest not to be jealous as I needed to sell everything to move house. I've had no scope or mount for a while now, just a 5D classic and tripod which I've been having fun with in the meantime. It's actually been quite fun to go back to basics, but I really want a scope and mount back! lol p.s that is one stunning Horse Head and Flame neb, with plenty of detail and texture in the wall. Thanks for your video. I left astronomy 2 years ago, I had an ES 400/1800, now I want to practice again, but for the 'assisted visual' (very fast astrophotography), I go and buy this ZWO 533, with a 200/1000 on HEQ5 Pro or EQ6-R, with ASIAir system. I'd like to specialize myself in the small planetary nebulæ, but I know, it is a difficult challenge, with auto-guidance I'm afraid. And it is no more 'assisted visual'... Jacques, from France

Wow I hadn't seen that this had been released anywhere, only that ASI ZWO were going to release some larger format cameras. Your 52 mins of B33 looks very impressive, will you be reviewing the benefits/drawbacks of this camera in upcoming videos, I wonder for example how the reduced refractor would compare to the RASA 8 you had recently?! Hi Trevor. One thing that is not clear from your video is whether you dispensed with the Skywatcher dedicated field flattener to use the new focal length reducer? Also, which adapters did you use to achieve the correct focal length? Would be good to demonstrate the items in your optical train, as they are assembled. Just a thought, after going to the trouble of putting a video together demonstrating your kit.

Thank You Trevor; great video as always. Recently I bought the ZWOAsi183MC Pro cooled Color Camera. Real testing was not possible due to bad wheather conditions here in Heidelberg/Germany; I would like to ask You about Your experience with the new Asi533 color camera when it comes to processing the color pictures. I guess that the original File Format is FIT in greyscale; do you process it with DeepSKyStacker to get the color picture and does this work fine? Whats about AmpGlow; do You have to take extra measures against it or is it eliminated during the „standard“ processing with DeepSkyStacker? Greetings from Germany and always clear skies!

Hi, great video! Thanks a lot! Im thinking about getting this camera but I am only mobile by foot so I have to carry my stuff. Mobile 12V batteries are either super heavy or only low in capacity and I wonder if you can confirm that the cooling at 20% produces already d-20C and only draws 0.5 A as it is shown in the graph in the manual? Since this would allow me to get a way smaller battery than one that can support the recommended 12V/3A! CS Robert
