this is a revised comment. I received my tuner and had a few issues getting it to tune. The seller was a big help. This tuner does not have the tuning range of my LDG Z-11 pro. It is also half the cost and less than half the size. I tunes my doublet on most bands other than the ones with very high SWR. I will use it for my portable ops. I am very happy with this little tuner and would buy it again. Tech Minds is my go to channel for reliable reviews and info. Thank you sir.

Does yours make these relay-like frying sounds when it tunes 😝😀? Just to know if mine is normal. Mine would tune on aboute and below 27.025 am but not on it… it crashes and reboots. I guess it may be from the the antenna’s specificity.. Happy holidays!

The examples seem to show it only tunes to an SWR of around 1.4:1. Is that right, and the best it can do?

I bought one. It works well. Nice Tech Minds showed me how to operate it. I turned the beep when tuning off. It sounded more like a warning and freaked me out because of it's loudness.

Mine seems to work well enough, too. The tuner isn't quite as wide-banded as the Xiegu G90's internal tuner, especially at 160m. The beep makes sense for when you have the tuner at the base of an antenna and you're sitting some distance away. If you're close enough, I think it's sufficient to hear the clicking of the relays.

My advice in that situation would be to just use resonant, home made antennas! Then you will never need an ATU :-) Thanks for watching!

I received mine today. Seems to tune fine but would obstinately crash and reboot on the 27,025 mhz while managing to tune higher and lower from this frequency. It whistles TERRIBLY LOUD so I have to change this from settings. When tuning, it makes loud frying and clicking sounds as if someone was trying to play loud audio using an electrical on/off relay as a speaker 😝🤗! Looks very nicely and tightly built otherwise, screens are crisp and well readable and designed.

Hello Mat, hope your well. Last time we spoke about this atu, you advised me to use resonant antennas as to budget.. So I am back on the quest.... I have tried a efhw in the attic with not great return. So now thinking of a doublet/g5rv half size. Would you think this atu would be alright with it? This is when I am at home with the 817. I am mainly sota but we all need to play radio at home. Thinking doublet as I can bend it into my 8m attic. Update : I have now ordered one and now fingers crossed on the slow boat from China. According to the Antuner website and (Chinese) manual, it should work with QRP. The specified power range is 0.1W-100W. Would be great if Matt could verify this.

Hi - I didn’t quite understand about the “off equals off” statement… does it use latching relays so that once tune is found it doesn’t need to draw any power from the battery or USB, or does it need to be powered all the time you’re operating?

I was referring to the on/off switch. With my old ATU100 clone the battery would still drain while in OFF position. With this model when the power switch is OFF, the battery still remains charged.

I bought one. I like it, like it a lot. I often use it in the manual setting & after tuning the antenna to a frequency I leave the tuner turned on & swap the antenna to my RSP-1A receiver.

It will interfere with 10m reception when it's tuned for alternative bands... the touch-up tuner (approx 3:1) inside most transceivers is not in-circuit for receive, only transmit... so having an internal tuner active, but with inappropriate inductance and reactance settings to achieve a low SWR for the current frequency, will not change the receive. As external tuners (like the AT-100m) is always in-line on receive, you will get attenuation for any band when the tuner is calibrated for another band.

Always buy latching relay tuners. The HK4100F-DC5V-SHG relays are not latching.

Sorry, a bit late - if your antenna is not resonant on the frequency you wish to use, that is, it has too high SWR, it will decrease output effectivity a lot and could ruin the finals on your transmitter. The tuner uses inductances and capacitances to match the antenna to your rig, akin to for example an EFHW unun
