This song was originally performed by a famous Italian children’s choir called “Zecchino D’oro”. The lead singer was a little girl named Vincenza Pastorelli and it came out in 1969 with the name “Volevo Un Gatto Nero” (translated: I want a black cat): kzbin.info/www/bejne/maabmYqhjKaAgLc The song talked about this little girl who asks her parents for a black cat but receives a white one instead so she throws a tantrum. In 1995, the Korean group Turbo, basically remastered the song & called it “Black Cat Nero”: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3Tafo15jduHr80 Turbo (Korean: 터보) was a South Korean dance-oriented group, mostly popular during the late 1990s to early 2000s. The group was originally a duo consisting of Kim Jong-kook and Kim Jung-nam. In early 1997, Kim Jung-nam left the group and Kim Jong-kook later continued promotion with new member Mikey. They became one of the biggest stars in the Korean entertainment industry during their active time between 1995 and 2001 and sold millions of albums and records across Asia. In 2015, they made a comeback as a trio after 15 years with "Again" - From Wikipedia. So Yes, that's Kim Jong-kook from Turbo who appears at the end of ATEEZ's cover mv. ATEEZ are huge fans of Turbo & Kim Jong-kook. ATEEZ have become close with him (Mingi, in particular, ADORES Kim Jong-kook and considers him a HUGE inspiration!!!) and they even did an AMAZING collaboration album with him. So Turbo was the group featured on Immortal Songs, which is a show where they highlight an older artist or a specific theme and then several groups compete by covering that group/person's songs. This was ATEEZ's first appearance on Immortal Songs, and since the official video doesn't show it (I think), they won this episode. Kim Jong-kook is one of the original members of Turbo, and he was so in love with their performance that he encouraged and ultimately appeared in this video remake of the song they performed there. ATEEZ commonly had Halloween themed things, so this was the video for 2020. The relationship with Kim Jong-kook continued, btw, with Hong Joong rapping during one of KJK's live performances, and then KJK worked with ATEEZ again on a song called Be My Lover/Do You Want to See the Sea, on a special Seasons Songs album. It's a bright summer bop and isn't a part of the ATEEZ discography per se, in case you wanted to check it out (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIapoXyBrZusaMU). Btw, they did a zombified version of Pirate King for Halloween 2018, a creepy version of Wonderland in 2019 (MNET, so would be Patreon), Black Cat Nero for 2020, and a vampire version of Deja Vu in 2021, just so you know. :) Glad you love this, and yes, the guitars and ATEEZ are good friends, just less so in as far as you've gotten with your discography journey!

Has anyone ever told you that Dreamcatcher and ATEEZ share producers? Although both groups have vastly different sounds, you might find some production similarities. The King is another song by ATEEZ that gives me DreamTEEZ collab vibes.

Thank you for checking this out and sparing it from the ranking 😅😅 (though I really appreciate your ranking efforts) bc this song & mv sits in the most special Ateez space in my heart. This is where I fell into the rabbit hole. I had zero prior knowledge of these boys. But post-Halloween 2020, I saw a post on insta by Kim Jong Kook, of him & the boys working on an mv. I'm a fan of him and afaik he doesnt do collabs w junior artists, it's a rare event. So I had to check the mv out to find out who these boys were. I was astounded, bedazzled, charmed, decimated, enchanted (well i will not attempt the rest of the alphabet 😂) bc firstly, I love it when electric guitar is incorporated into music tt I alrdy know and secondly, Kim Hongjoong! He reminded me instantly of G-dragon of bigbang (the only grp I stanned prior to discovering Ateez). He was so charismatic, just so amazing. And the rest of the grp also impressed me. I actually questioned if they were an actual idol grp or were they musical actors playing roles of idol grp members. Then I watched the Immortal Songs performance. 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 From thereon, there is no turning back for me. I'm forever grateful to KJK for bringing Ateez into my life 😅😂😅😂 Edited to add: While I struggled & gave up on a bias in Ateez, hence I'm OT8, I have a very clear bias in Atiny fandom 🤣 and he is Andrew of thatkpopguitarist He's done close to 40 guitar covers of Ateez songs. If you'd like to listen, you'd have to do the search on yt, instead of going through the playlist lest you'd be spoiled. Some of the songs tt u had listened and ranked which he had covered are Pirate King, Treasure, Wave, Aurora, Win, to name some. Oh, also Bouncy, Dune & Wake Up from the latest EP

Their Halloween MVs are wonderful! This is my second favorite! My first favorite being "Dejavu", but you can't do that one yet because the song is in your ranking. 😁

😭😭😭 that's the first time I've come across a comment citing Kim Jong Kook as their manager. KJK is my actual gateway to Ateez ❤ He's a much-respected well-loved veteran in the Korean entertainment industry. If he didn't encourage the production of this mv n appeared in it, I would probably discover Ateez later than I did.

TURBO turned it into a Korean song and it became popular in Korea, and he's the artist they are "covering" and who joins them in the end.
