Got the DM604 S3 for 10 years now I guess and still a great speaker. Is it worth upgrading?
@ListenUp Жыл бұрын
Slightly deeper, punchier bass. Highs are still very articulate with definition but smoother. Older 600 series can get a bit bright when turned up-not these. If you can give them a listen. DM604 still a great speaker though.

Just had the 603 S3's delivered. JUNK! These are the worst speakers ive ever heard, bar non. The sound coming out of them would be discrbed as noise, not music. The tweeter noise is so annoying you cant listen to any songs with symbols, snare drumbs, horns,... Ill never do business with Bowers and Wilkins again.

I find it difficult to agree with this opinion. In fact, the first minutes of listening were disappointing, but after 3 hours the speakers came to life, the music became pleasant and engaging, the high tones are very precise but not piercing at all. I think that further hours of listening will bring further improvement. I am happy with the purchase. Take into account that these speakers need an appropriate amplifier and warm-up.

@tomaszbrodzic8381 I'm sorry but I stand with my opinion. The tweeters are way over engineered. They make the speakers wildly out of balance. The tweeters are the offenders. The loud tin noise comming out of the tweeters overpowers everything else. All I want to do is shove a screw driver into them to see if that works. At this point, I can still dump them on eBay and cut my losses.

@@paulphillips9082 I understand, I'm sorry to hear that. In my new speakers, which I have had for only 2 days, I do not have such a problem, the high sounds are very nicely presented and all ranges are well balanced. I also have Audeze lcd-x studio headphones, so it's easy for me to judge whether the speakers sound correct. I wonder if it's possible you got a faulty piece?

@@tomaszbrodzic8381 It may be. I've decided to give them more break in time.The base speakers are opening up a little making it more balanced....I will say that I like the midrange.

@@paulphillips9082 I have already heard the opinion of a person who wanted to send the speakers back after the first listening session, but after some time they started to sound good. They also need to be matched with an appropriate amplifier. I borrowed a NAD C368 from a friend for one day, but ultimately I will buy Musical Fidelity M3si, I have a feeling that it will be a good pair. Of course I will check this connection before purchasing. I think Cambridge Audio CXA81 or Rotel A14 MK2 would also be suitable.

Sounds like you’re biased.

@bass4life294 I have owned B&W speakers. 600 series measurements are very bad. The S2s were the worst. Even 800s don't measure as good as they should. The treble is forward and becomes fatiguing. The sound is unbalanced. It's not being biased. Look at Kef they measure well, but with Kef, they look nice on the outside but are cheap on the inside. I am saying the crossover components used by Kef are the cheapest they can use, but they charge a high price for the speakers. Kef speakers are bass light until you get to the Blades. Or the LS60, but then Kef deliberately designed the LS that the amps can't be serviced. I know they are businesses and not charities. If you look at speakers, that is out there you can get speakers that are much better at the price point. Advertising budgets go a long way, B&W and Kef have very large advertising budgets, and a very large amount of the costs of their speakers goes into adverting, and the advertising budget has to be recovered in the price. Hence why I call some speakers cheap and nasty because they spend too much money on advertising that doesn't go into the speaker build and increaes the price. Money talks, and a lot of people in the hi-fi industry make their living off promoting, reviewing, and selling Kef and B&W speakers. That living comes from the oversized advertising budget. If you are constantly told how good a product is, then you will start believing that product is the best out of a whole range of similar products.
