If you upgrade to an inexpensive GoPro, your videos will be much better and you'll have a wider angle view (which is really useful in tight spaces).

Bali is all about not having to use AC? Meaning it has plenty of big hatches. That sure was NOT the case with the 40 and 42
@Catamaranguru
@Catamaranguru 4 жыл бұрын
David Lam you are correct. While the salon is incredibly well ventilated, the cabins on the smaller models could use more hatches in the deck.

Always buy used first , try it, get real knowledge of design and structure , performance etc. Then maybe you could judge better a new design ...

That is a strategy, certainly. We have sailed several of these Bali cats over thousands of miles so its not new to us and can therefor form an educated opinion.

YEs always learn what you are doing first even if you have the cash to buy a much bigger fancier boat. Putting alot of money into a glamour boat if you are not an experienced sailor is very unwise....of course the sales people,want to sell you the highest priced boat they can. If you have zero sail experience take lessons, then charter a couple or more times captained boats and learn more. Then unless time is running out on your LIFESPAN buy a small coastal cruiser sailboat used. LEarn to sail on that and you will also learn boat maintenance, that will teach you what you need to know as a boat owner FAST! Move up,to a larger one when you feel ready. DO YOUR OWN MAINTENACE, if you dont you will spend a fortune e on maintenance esp the ,larger and fancier the boat. YOu will ALWAYS get a better deal on a used boat than a new boat. ALso many boats have proven themselves when used ie where they have sailed and under what conditions. Buy books that show the most popular boats there are available and look at layouts and dream use these books to shop models you like and have researched . You should build a boat book library to learn maintenance, etc etc. REad alot about boats , which are more seaworthy than others if you plan to do serious offshore long distance sailing. That is an entirely different thing than coastal cruising where you can easily head to safety. It is a big jump to cross even the Gulf of Mexico or to make the crossing between Fla and Mexico crossing the Gulfstream. WE have crossed in no winds in our motorsailor smooth as glass and we have crossed in very high seas that were definitely not for a novice and forecasts are not always right. Crossing the Caribbean nonstop or an ocean on longer sails is another world yet. STart small and used, move up to what you really want when you know better what that IS. ALso when learning try out multi hulls and monohulls...you get the most boat for your money, one that takes heavy seas better in a quality one used than any new boat. ANd many times they are already fitted with heavy duty rigging, storm sails etc needed for heavy sea conditions. While new boats are NOT outfitted that way, those are all addon costs and very pricey. For day sailing and maybe a first boat that is very affordable and really fast and fun try a Hobie Cat...my husband in his youth was a camp counselor in Morehead City NC teaching sailing on monohull Lightnings. I learned as a child on a little Sunfish. WE have over 100 years of sailing under our belts between the two of us on all size and types of sailboats. WE are from a three generation family serving the US Coast Guard. Our family has saved boaters of all kinds fishermen, sailors, etc on all size boats so,we have a fair bit of knowledge about boats, seaworthiness, and just general salty experience and knowledge. Obviously we love the oceans, boats, sailing, and everything that can be done under , on, and over the water. It is ALL thrilling. But safety has to come first and experience and knowledge is what helps keep you safe while getting your thrills.

Ocean crossing? Uh maybe not. Dockside condo YES! MOst boats never leave marinas in Fla and are floating bars for parties this is perfect for that. CHarters fine. SErious ocean going crossings,first high seas they would be calling my daughter to bring her CG Dolphin Helicopter to save THEM! She has rescued many from pretty boats built to stay close to shore.
@Catamaranguru

HI Sybil, I disagree. Did you watch our video crossing the Atlantic? The boat is more than capable of weathering bad conditions. Problems occur more often than not because of people's inability to sail the boat efficiently and safely. Some conditions may just not be comfortable for the crew but the boat in most cases will survive.

@@Catamaranguru Cant speak to this boat in particular but yes, many boats can take far more than the crew can take and yes, many are found later and salvaged.

@Catamaranguru

Michael M I get it. In our defense though, we are not professional photographers but rather sailors who happen to have cameras in hand sometimes to capture some footage. Doing this on the high seas is not all that easy at the best of times. 😜 BUT we are getting there, slowly. If you are interested in the boat, you can always come and look at our boat in person and experience it first hand.

@@rodgoddard6373 Actually it all depends what you're after, but Bali offers both speed and comfort. ;) Certainly there are faster boats than Bali, but they do not offer the same level of comfort. So there's always a balance in these things. Ther can never be a 100% happiness, but you're wrong to scrach off your list a flagship Bali just because of your personal opinion....... It is a great boat and a the best innovative brand which now all the others started to copy slowly but steadily ;-)
