This was a very good review. IMHO, the best review for this 7-string bass. HB has now created a new series of these BZ basses, namely the BZ II (roman numeral 2) series. So there is also a BZ-7000 II NT

OMG Harley Benton making a 7-string?! I’m impressed. I’ve been playing Conklins for 20years but this spec beats the a**e out of the basic groove tools model and maybe more. I’d love to play one just to see.

Yes, this one is a beast of a bass, by far the heaviest I've got. I'm not sure how it compares to other equivalent instruments, but I assume they are all going to be on the weighty side.

Great review, I was interested in that Harley Benton monster, but your review showed me, that this would be overkill for what I want to do. The only thing I missed in your review was a test of the balance, when you stand with the instrument. Does it has neck-dive? I am sure it has ...

Hi there, I can confirm neck dive is there but not as bad as you'd think. The body is a weighty hunk of wood so balance isn't terrible. The weight overall is the biggest problem for long playing sessions. Also HB do make 4, 5 & 6 string versions if the 7 string is overkill for you needs. As a Instrument it is really very good for the money.

Hi Nedjip, yes I am in Germany and Thomann music is also in Germany. However, I ordered direct from Thomann's website and they can deliver world wide. Being in Germany obviously makes shipping and potential return easier but Thomann are very reliable generally.

Having it up close I wouldn't say it looks like a cheap copy as the quality of the workmanship and the woods are as good as Ibanez. Harley Benton do make style copies as well as their own stuff but then again plenty of fender copies from Ibanez, Lakland, Sandberg and Yamaha etc. so I don't knock Harley Benton for that. Also, many of harley bentons guitars and basses are made in the same factories as the "brand" guitars, often the same woods, the same workman just different hardware and some difference styling. I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of those examples where it comes out of the same factory "whitelabel" and they stamp a different logo on the headstock. I did look at the Ibanez and the conklin but availability near me and the price difference was hard to justify. I do not regret it, the bass is fantastically well made, sounds fantastic and play really nicely. Cannot ask for more.

This is really more of a cheap peavey grind copy but in 7 strings. However, harley benton delivers impressive quality in my experience, it certainly doesnt feel as cheap as it is
