@TobiasLindh3 ай бұрын
@martinstock3 ай бұрын

What has Tesla done with the battery factory building since they moved all cell production to the US following Biden's Inflation Reduction Act? Is it being used for anything else in the meantime or has it been left vacant?
@TobiasLindh3 ай бұрын
They produce parts of cells and ship them to the US to get assembled there. So no, they didn't move all the cell production to the US. They just need assemble the cells in the US to count for the inflation reduction act.

@Subway13063 ай бұрын
Probably not, especially high speed services (~200 mph) and heavy freight trains with long distances are not possible with battery electric trains. Powerlines are more cost effective too if the tracks are frequently used. Ugly is no argument when building public infrastructure, it just has to work and be durable. The use case of BE trains in germany only exists because planning procedures for power lines (or for any other project tbh) are long and cost intensive, for the 15 years they need to plan and build a powerline, battery electric trains can be used as a transition.
@johntheux92383 ай бұрын
@@Subway1306 It will shine when most of your energy is used to accelerate or climb steep slopes since you can apply regenerative braking. Will work just fine on anything that doesn't involve high drag losses such as high speed rail but should work fine for freight trains.
@Subway13063 ай бұрын
@johntheux9238 Well, electric trains have regenerative braking already for a very long time. They are able to put the power back into the grid. This is no argument for a battery but all electric vehicles, no matter where the power is from.
@nanaimoshoerepair3 ай бұрын
What if a Dynamo was attached to this train? It would be Epic. Not only powering itself, it would create unlimited renewable energy to the grid.
@dezz000023 ай бұрын
You're just kidding, right? Power generation in such a way would exert a braking force all the time. As well as less energy could be generated than it was needed to maintain speed. However, there is a technique called regenerative braking when usually the electric motor itself used as a braking mechanism while generating power as well (so they are used as a generator this way). But of course it is used only when the train or vehicle needs to brake.
