I went today to Scheels and looked at one in detail. Its really too big and heavy for CCW. Beretta should have made this pistol with a 4.5" barrel and figured out a way to lighten it up a little.

What would be your first pick and why, for IDPA, a stock Beretta 92XI or a stock Staccato C2/P? What about USPSA, same question?

I only shoot Uspsa but those are both excellent choices. It’s all going to boil down to what your budget is. Beretta is 1300 and staccato is 2500 so it’s a pretty big jump. If you are just starting off and don’t have gear I’d get the beretta and spend the extra on your belt, holsters, extra mags etc.

I had the launch edition but did not like the trigger. It was like 6 lbs. I am old with pain in my hands. Is this Squalo trigger pull any lighter that the original 92XI?

Beretta's are the sexiest pistols made, beautiful design with a mostly exposed barrel which helps reduce recoil. The only pistol sexier than a Beretta is a custom Beretta.
