Beautiful machine bro, making the climbing fun and fast is a whole new biking experience. Love the idea, always been old school but, this is game changing shit right there.

Thanks bro. You have known me for many years and I’m an old school dude but always open to the new stuff. This has changed what mtb looks like for me now. I get to do more runs safely as I’m not so tired and it’s exciting learning how to use all its black wizardry 🤣. I get there are Haters but if it keeps an old fat bloke riding and enjoying cycling and nature I can live with that. Get on a test bike for a day bro. It will blow your mind just how fun it is and the workout your get

@mickandcraneysmtb1410 yes bro, I think that at this point, you must be my longest standing friendo no doubt. At some point, we'll get a chance to hit the trails together. Might not be whistler, probably won't even pedal, hahaha. But, we'll hit those trails anyhow. We have no snow for Christmas whatsoever this year , very first time people have seen this here. Good news though, we'll be riding like mofos as soon as Christmas is over and family goes home, 😆 the new engine almost has 1500km, so far so good. Our biggest rides so far average 340km, I'm lucky the gf likes it too but, don't enjoy high speed shit. So I'm thinking of getting a 5 seat buggy to be able to bring family/friends and dog to enjoy the trail system and keep the sport rig to modify for myself to go rip with similar riding buddies. I'm so addicted at this point, it's deranged. Exactly like a dh rig but with 4x shocks. Tons of tuning to go. Will always enjoy this shit, the trails are where I'm free from any stupid anxiety, one jump, one corner, one skid at a time. Same shit, same euphoric feeling, slightly different rigs. Merry Christmas to you and yours my dear brother.

@@fj400007 no snow???? It’s farking Canada lol. I too love that crazy dangerous sport . It’s starting to pick up here on the rain Forrest side of the coast. I must admit I like the slower , exploring kind a lot now but only if I’m driving . Love the passion you talk about on this comment , this is your thing bro . You have evolved like I knew you would to something so cool. Merry Christmas bro :dead horse: lol remember that?

That was a great video as always Mick, what a beauty you've bought yourself. A really awesome bike, welcome to the e-bike shredders. Great rider on the trails, I had to laugh at the bird on the trail, but I found the cobwebs rather scary. Awesome ride my friend, it was great to watch you and see that you are happy with the beautiful bike. Thanks for sharing and have a great day. I wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a relaxing day. Ride on

Thank you mate. Yes the turkey was very funny but the spider was horrible . I got back to car and took my helmet off and a big spider ran out. Just part of living here lol. We also have 9 of the top 12 deadliest snakes we often run into, wild pigs , wild dogs and wild horses used to be there until recently. The bike is perfect for me. I love short travel bikes and have always loved white bikes so it’s great. I can’t believe how much fun these bikes are ! Thank you for commenting mate. I’d also like to send my love to you and your loved ones . You are a wonderful person and very supportive. Please take care and keep shredding 👊

The wife and I just watched this on the TV with speakers on and we decided it is much quieter than my Trek, it sounds like a 70's dragster landing off of jumps 😄

Hahaha I’ve had those bikes . I just serviced the ibis for that same reason. Thank you both for watching 🫶. It’s a solid bloody thing that appears very well put together and I guess time will tell if it gets a few Dragster like sounds. Bit of a gamble going for a short travel bike but I knew it would be ideal. Only time it feels heavy is getting it out the Ute lol. Thanks once again and I wish you and your family a happy Christmas 🎄 Ps… any riding happening over Chrissy ?

Yeah Mike settled in straight away. Really cool bike ! Got to make some changes to it like getting the handle bar height up, maybe lifting the seat post up a bit and thinking of some suspension changes like a bit less air but run it faster … you know ? All the things you go through the first few months on a bike. Thank you for taking the time to catch up and watch this video . Have a good weekend…..🤘

Thanks my man 🙏. I def felt like pushing after I got used to it. I think it feels much better really giving it some . Today I did another 20+km and felt so fresh. I’d ride up to a trail head and just bomb down , no waiting ! Heart rate higher than usual and burnt thru more calories . Still getting used to the characteristics but I feel it’s gonna change what MTB looks like for me . Couldn’t be more happy . Thanks again mate, really appreciate you watching and commenting

Nice work mick! Welcome to the ebike revolution! I’m only 33 and bought myself an ebike and haven’t looked back. I love the amount of K’s I can get in when pushing the same as my regular/naughty bike. I still get a work out but I’m not sitting in zone 4 & 5 the whole time… I have a far more balanced level on work out and have actually noticed I am feeling fitter for when I ride the naughty bike (which I still love so very much) I got a super long travel ebike, but the way the Mondraker level handles is second to none. Nimble, poppy and stable. Looking forward to hearing more about your ebike adventures

Hey Jesse thanks for the comment and I couldn’t be happier joining the revolution. Your story is one of many I see where the experience on a ebike has been first class. Bigger workout, safer ride , longer ride and above all a big smile . They genuinely make you feel good. After struggling as an old bloke and not being able to do what I once could this has some what levelled the playing field . I used to avoid group rides as I couldn’t keep up but now I can. The improved social benefit is worth it alone . I believe anyone that gets on one and says they are shit , cheating or lazy had preconceived ideas of it being shit coz no way could you not enjoy the experience . Your mondy is stunning and one of the best there is and looks incredible . Thanks for the comment bro . Hope you and the fam have a lovely Christmas 🎄

Welcome to the dark side mate 🙂, and welcome to Marin, Im currently riding the Alphine trail E1, lov it. I get 3x The amount of laps i would normally get from my analoug. It corners soo much better, and its so grounded when it comes to tech and gnarly trail. I have No issue jumping the bike. The motor is quiet, the only downside i find with this bike is the speed limiter can be annoying when youre trying to hit a bigger jumps. Ohhh and dont worry it wont take you long to figure out how to climb, i had the same issue, just go softer on the gear, youll soon figure that out. Have fun with it. 🤙

I totally get all that mate. The thing is a missile lol! I’m doing 20km rides easily and feel so much better after a ride. The workout is actually a bit more due to I can keep going . Mate I was so torn between the rift zone and the alpine trail but I’m a sucker for short travel trail bikes with bang on geo. Marin really make great bikes , out of the box I have not changed a thing. Yes the climbing is very new for me on a ebike. I’m still working out the modes and what gear to be in but I think I’m getting there. I simply love it ! The bike has me super excited to just go and ride . I’m keen to try a few black trails with tech just to know what the bike and I can do . The aggression and confidence due to it being so stable is next level. It’s having a bigger impact than I thought it would. Thank you so much for watching and commenting . The dark side is def where it’s at 🤙

DUDE, SO STOKED for you my man, really glad to see you out and about on the E-bike. Had a look on BOL to see what's what with them, super, like REALLY nice spec for that money level. Still, no stopping you now buddy, go and enjoy and remember that you have to keep the bin cook as you can't take this puppy on a flight! ;) PS - I love how the Shimano motors ride. The EP8 on the Brazn I have is SOOOOOOO nice. Just stick them in trail, and use your gears to keep the cadence up, and they are F'n SWEEET!!! (like I've told you, even my fat old butt got at the local 360mtr vertical elevation climb without issue, knew about it the next day, but I still did it!
@mickfromrocky
@mickfromrocky 11 ай бұрын
Total game changer mate . The choice of the bike while budget was a factor the overall spec was spot on . Everything works and the motor just feels tough . The geo and suspension combine so well. I get the impression Marin put a lot of work getting it right. Plus the 5:38 colour is white( off white) . Every bike should have a white paint option too 🤣. Nope this is one capable bike

Sweet I’ll look into it mate. Def pros and cons although the only real one I can see having an issue is the weight getting it out the Ute with two Gumby shoulders and moving it around down a trail. I fatigued a bit quicker going down from being more active. I’m thinking the flu was a part of that. I am interested to hear your thoughts.

Merry Xmas Mick, those spider webs 😱 . Ebikea get some bad press and people who ride em can be viewed as 'lazy and not be prepared to pedal, I have a different view and think they can contribute to a person's fitness and ultimately riding enjoyment. Looking forward to how you get on with it but take it easy with that boost dude .😅😅.

Next year is my plan to join the assisted riding club. I’ll be going for the bigger enduro rig. Still looking for the best option for me. There’s just so many brands and options out there from the usual bike companies to moto brands dipping their toes into Emtb’s.

Hell yes, that’s great mate ! The big Mondraker would be a great enduro rig but for what I ride these days this is more than enough . Great review Mick. Perfect timing for me as im thinking about selling my Ripmo AF. What you sell yours for? What are the differences going down hill between the two? Im looking at Marin Alpine
@mickfromrocky
@mickfromrocky 7 ай бұрын
Hey mate ! I’ve still got the ripmo AF and still use it but I’m thinking of selling it soon. I don’t know how much I’d get for it to be fair. On the comparison of going down hill it’s probably not fair as the ibis is 160/147 this is 140/140. However, I’m doing exactly the same trails and it feels so nice. I do get caught out of fast chunky sections but in all I feel way more confident on the Marin . E bikes have a lower centre of gravity and so stable . I would say I’m much faster going down a hill on this Marin. I will say that I’m more about long trail rides so that’s why I went the short travel option but the Marin Alpine trail is so capable . Perfect geo and so tough , great spec and looks bloody fantastic . Both can be aggressive trail and even XC but the alpine trail can be a crazy chunky trail bike. I must admit I’d like to own one. Let me know how you go mate and good luck 🤘
