It's new bike day!! For the first bike launch of 2025 we have Pivot Cycles releasing the new Trailcat SL and LT! We had a chance to ride them in Tuscon Arizona on the 50 Year Trail System and here are our thoughts! Stay tuned for a long term review on both soon!

2400g frame means something in the 25-26 lb range built up like an XC bike. More downcountry build will see it in the 27-28ish range which feels more what the SL should've been built like.

Mavens are certainly an odd choice on that bike. Be interesting to see a comparison of the Trailcat vs the Ibis Ripley V5.

I have been thinking of picking up a 429, but now this Trailcat has gotten my interest. I was really wondering if you can notice the difference between the SL and TL?

Yes you can notice a difference between the SL and LT, sportier race feel in the SL and more enduro on the LT. I would say this is basically the 429 update for now. But I’ve also not spent much time on the 429!

Legit question! How does the average Joe afford these bikes? I’ve got kids and a wife to take care of and feel like I make decent money but how does a person just go in and drop 8k on a bike? lol are most financing them at this level? I do have many hobbies maybe that’s my problem.. So maybe if I were only focused on mtb it would be easier to justify this level of bike! Great vid!

Tough one!! We would say Trailcat LT, the Offering is awesome but the LT feels a little more current geo wise between the two. But both are great!!

I don't think the Trailcats are long and slack enough. I would have prefered that both that both bikes come with a 77* STA and 65* HTA. Not a fan of 140mm Fox 34 fork. The 140mm Fox 36 would be better. Not a fan of the Super Boost rear hub just because it is not common. If your going to buy the Trailcat LT you might as well get the Switchblade with better geo and more travel.

Those numbers are rad geo wise but in the desert on a short travel rig we can see why Pivot went this direction! Don’t get us wrong we love steep seat angles but it’s nice that there is another option for someone who might have more up and down trails rather than straight up for a long time then straight down. As for the switchblade I own one, love that bike! Working on a comparison video soon! Thanks for watching!!

Its a 429 enduro with a 34 140 . Keep your trail 429E. Trailcat Lt ...keep your switchblade . Not enough of a difference. Fan boys are about to get screwed over !

Mo, you did not mention. Did pivot update their cable routing in tubes instead of just free down the frame to rattle.

It uses cable clips in the frame to help keep them from rattling!

Cables never rattled inside if you properly installed the sleeves over the cables and properly tightened them down .
