The bike is running a SRAM eTap AXS groupset, CeramicSpeed OSPW X, ENVE G23 carbon gravel wheels, and a very neat integrated suspension system called MTT. A big thank you to BMC for providing me the bike to ride and review, and to Attaquer for providing me the kit that I ride in.

Another KZbin channel changed the front chain ring to a 46 tooth. This was to enable him to peddle down hill during races as the 39 wasn't able to keep up with the bike. Thanks for the video. Subscribed.

I ride the 2021 URS 01 in a marvelous violett. I ride it everywhere, it makes the ride to the bakery such a pleasure. Never had such a cool bike that suits me that way and it's so comfy, can ride it the whole day without getting tired. Good Choice!!

When you packed your bike to Slovenia how "easy" was it to take of the handle bars and stow them away with clean but very short internal cable routing in the ICS stem? Who love to know what your experience is/was with packing for traveling with this bike?

Great review! How would this bike ride as a road bike? can it be a "all road" bike?. I would do gravel, but also a considerable amount of road cycling with different set of tires. I think it is a bit heavy for that use but I am not doing any road races. I would do some group relaxed road rides and solo rides. I am considering because I have access to a really good deal

Thanks mate. Personally I wouldn't recommend this one as an all road bike. The BMC Kaius is much more suited to be a road bike that can go off road...it has road geometry rather than the URS which is more mountain bike geometry, so the Kaius feels much more at home on the road. Even if you can get a great deal on an URS, have a look and see if you can find a Kaius for similar money, because even with a lower spec of wheels and components it'll be a better bike for what you want to do. Hope that helps!

Huge gap between 11-12 cog on cassette. How does it make the jump?

It’s amazingly smooth. It looks massive but it’s a very easy transition.

Very nice 😍. Do most gravel bikes run road or mtb pedals?
@tristantakevideo
@tristantakevideo 2 жыл бұрын
Most people run MTB pedals for the ease of clipping in when the cleats are muddy, but road shoes and pedals can offer a super stable platform which may be more suited to fast gravel races that require no hike-a-bike.

Would someone 160cm fit on BMC URS bike size small?
@tristantakevideo
@tristantakevideo 4 ай бұрын
Yes I’d say so. It comes stock with a short stem so I don’t think you’d have any issues.

Hey Andrea, I’m 172cm and run a size small frame. I could, however also fit on a medium as well.

Does the S size feel small with the shorter stem? I’m 170cm and hesitating between S and M sizes
@Ruudsen

@@tristantakevideo I have the same struggle with sizing. I am 175m with 78cm leglenght. My Canyon Grail is a S and in comparison, the URS has a better stack to reach for me. But the Seatpost is 16cm shorter with the URS :-/

Not for this bike. One can be fitted to the crankset but I generally only use power for training on the road, and keep the gravel bike for pure fun.

Nice bike/review, but I’ll have to disagree on the flared handlebar talking points. The problem is, they’re largely a marketing gimmick from a performance point of view (I know, I know....we never have THAT in the cycling world ;) ). I used them on my previous gravel bike for a short while and did a 125+ mile gravel ride (Belgian Waffle Ride in Cedar City, Utah) with them…..and they were utterly abysmal from a comfort standpoint and offered literally nothing in the way of a performance benefit. After 7+ hours, my upper body was killing me from the weird angle that the hands/elbows/shoulders are in on the hoods/drops. Also, due to the angle, the Shimano Ultegra mechanical shifters I had on that bike rubbed off the skin on my knuckles, which sucked. You really only want “wider” for super technical, low speed sections (think super rocky) where you need more torque/quicker steering, but more often than not people are riding on their hoods the majority of the time, in close proximity to the shifters/brakes, so that leaves out any benefit of the super wide part of the flares. If you’re hammering along on the flats on good terrain, then you might be in the drops on the flares in the widest part for comfort….and your arms flared out only negatively impacts aerodynamics/performance. My new gravel bike has a pair of Easton EC70 carbon aero road bars, 40 cm wide…..and soooooooooooooo much better than the super flared out Easton bars I used prior. I haven’t had any issues with handling and have done plenty of some pretty gnarly sand riding in the short amount of time I’ve had the bike (I do live in a desert) and kept it upright.
