We flew to Germany to check out the new BMW i7! Packed with some insane features the BMW i7 is one of the most luxurious cars we've ever seen. The i7 defines luxury with a 31-inch theatre screen which is controlled by a remote in what BMW calls the master chair in the back of the car. Im obsessed with this. Not only did they make it look super nice, the touches they did with the crystals and the ambient light cool crystal structure. The headlights with the beating light behind the crystals. The tv moving with the seats. As a BMW fan, I’ve always had to admit that Mercedes has better interior but for once I actually think the tables have turned, not only is BMW living up to their performance standards, but they’ve risen the luxury standard as well. The design was taking from the previous S Class though with the side by side screen thing. Mercedes did it in 2013 already. But they abandoned that idea for their new style which was a huge mistake because their old style looked better.

The one thing this car is missing is a digital rear view mirror, especially with the theater screen. If it were me, I'd want my chauffeur to be able to safely see behind him while driving me around. BMW really needs to get those implemented. GM and Lexus has them in several models the past few years now. The X4 and X6 drastically needs them too.

@privettoli - In normal situations, perhaps it can be a tad gimmicky. However, when your view is obstructed with gear or people's heads or with the screen in this car down, it is extremely useful. When the view is partially obstructed because of being in a coupe or coupe suv, or there's weather making it difficult, having a digital rear view mirror is extremely beneficial. I've driven a car with it, and even in normal driving, I liked it a lot. It's a much clearer view of the rear surroundings versus looking through the vehicle before seeing the outside. It can take a little time to get used to due to your perspective being a little different from what you've used to forever, but it can be very helpful in many situations. They do have a switch to make it a normal mirror, you know, so if you personally don't like it then you personally don't need to use it!

I personally don't think it's a necessity since even if somebody is watching a TV or if shades are obstructing the view, there's small number of cases when rear view mirror is actually needed, I simply use side mirrors to see what I need to see. So I wonder what would you be looking at in the rear view mirror in that case.

​@@privettoli i think it would be usefull for blind spots, sometimes you cant see through your side mirros so having a aditional digital rear view mirror would def help with that, as the guy said not as a replacement but as a adition, that can help you to avoid a impact in trafic which is always a good thing, one way to do that would be by implementing a high quality reverse cam and put it to be always on when the back shades are up and that would solve the problem since you have a huge side screen in the front too... i personaly look at the rear view mirror all the time in trafic especially when its stop to avoid making any mistake and also avoid to get rear ended by someonelse, and i would love a feature like that in a car like this, it gives your passenger and yourself a bit more safety not only against that but also against thieves in trafic

@@mosesmuhane That's your opinion my guy...i personally feel like it can 💯% be compared to the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in particular, specifically for the Beemer|Benz dynamic alone, but also for the fact that car goes for around 200k which is considered the 'entry level' and they're more similarities there than you might think overall, but yet the i7 has alot more advanced, innovative tech within it. And besides, as far as the whole daily driver aspect goes, i don't think any of these executive luxury vehicles are really catering to you driving it but rather you being driven by a chauffeur and experiencing it's full luxury itf place.

Not anymore. i7 is not bespoke, it's based on a heavy ice platform therefore transmission tunnel at the back. It's not as aero, not as fast as an EQS, Nio ET7 model s. BMW has some way to catch up to industry leaders

How many 7 series have you actually owned for an extended period? I'm talking 25 years plus of seriously long extended (months) of actual driving road tests over hundreds of thousands of miles. Never had one breakdown or fault (other than a bulb replacement once). Show me a limo that has that sort of reliability and durability in the same price bracket?

Bespoke EV platforms are lighter and made tailored to EVs. Rivals such as EQS ET7 and Model S are all bespoke Also the fastest variant of i7 is slower than faster variants of all above rivals. Search it yourself.

I remember back in the day when the first 7 series was the first ever car without a manual handbrake and host of other features that were a first. Fast forward to today we see them being the first with reversing assistant in the 3 series, first with a literal TV in the car etc.

You can use voice commands using the Hello BMW voice commands, once you turn on the Hello BMW feature, all you have to say from inside or outside the BMW is Hello BMW, OPEN ALL DOORS, OR CLOSE ALL DOORS,or you can say Hello BMW open driver's from door, or close driver's front door, or any individual door by saying open the door you'd like to open or close, to give the voice commands from outside the vehicle a window must be open or the window cracked open a little. so the operating Ai system can hear your voice. Most of the functions can be operated by voice, open and close doors from inside, you can set the drivers door to shut automatically when the brake is pressed also you activate the Theatre mode by voice too. Very cool car

If you look at some of the most expensive 7 series BMW from the late 90s early 2000s, these cars depreciated like nothing else. You can buy a California 2001 750il for $3800 in a “running” condition as I have. That car was 100k new!

I can’t afford it new but I can definitely afford it after 12 years or so. Most luxury cars depreciate like nothing else: Mercedes, BMW, Maserati, Range Rovers all cost around 100k when new but a decade later are worthless. There are cars that don’t go through that like Lexus and Acura as far as luxury cars and some others that don’t loose their value..

The exterior is still not everyone's taste. I think it works best in this matte black. That said, BMW knocked this interior out of the park. I recently sat in thr back and drivers seat of the New Maybach and was wowed by that interior. I think this new 7 rivals that, if not beat it.
