If you thought chopping a roof was a lot to bite off, in this episode Nick and Vic reveal more modifications to the SeeDan's body. Vic then shows you a very effective way to remove lead that was used to repair body seams/repairs back in the day.

David's ISOPON has a rich heritage with nearly 75 years' experience in manufacturing automotive refinish products. ISOPON's P. 38 formula began in 1949 as the world's first, and original pre-mixed body filler.

28:50, now that's an impressive English wheel. I've never seen one with a tire before.

The rubber wheel just bends material over the lower anvil. It's then wheeled using the solid upper to give it a compound curve. Show this technique on a larger scale in the custom '40 Ford hard top Coupe videos. 👍

@@joeschlotthauer840 I have an English Wheeling Basics video in the Metal Shaping Playlist that gives one a crash course in wheeling a motorcycle fender. You can also check out the M40C videos that involve wheeling (Ep.14 thru to 39). Those are filled with all kinds of real life application tricks and tips to wheeling panels. 👍

Very interesting to see that much production lead used on the body finish side. Not to say one is better than another, but the dad of one of my coworkers did GM trucks and 2dr passenger cars in lead. Both vehicles met the "B" pillar and told us they had just minutes to do each on. They had jigs that dropped in at the rear window and side window opening and aligned them for spot welding. Then line moved with his platform and had to tin the metal and the joint. Tinned & fluxed then tallow warmed by his torch had spoon one greased and heated the bar and sheet metal. He told us this was a 20 second job as the next guy on the line had another task. You could stop the line but better have a good reason as floor boss came quick and seconds count. But I never felt the rust would find it way behind it. Amazing job! DK, Omaha.

Lead used to be the cats ass back in the day. But over the years lead can move,shrink, expand. The new fillers out are great and don't shrink, expand,move. I like the fiberglass resin, it resists moisture. I do love your work though, you know your stuff.

I think some fender vents !! I would like to see you add a quarter window or shorten top of door frame to have only front section like a quarter window frameless door so side glasses match, and please tell me your not going to put a rear fuel filler in, every manufacturer went away from that for rear end crash safety and would seem irresponsible to ignore that.
@iNVisionPrototypes
@iNVisionPrototypes Жыл бұрын
Hey Hit man 309 cool handle! In a later video I talked about fender vents and was nearly crucified LOL! And as for the filler - We are NOT going to put in a rear fuel filler ... though that would be good payback for someone rear ending the car?? You'll have to wait and see what we do in a future video. Thanks for watching.

@@iNVisionPrototypes I gave my son my 79' Targa and I am sending for a windows-out respray (Grand Prix White). Anyway, even though it's an all galvanized (galvanneal) car I discovered the normal rust at the bottom corners of the front windshield frames and driver side under the rear windshield gasket. The latter I just welded but the front had to have some small inserts that I TIG welded in. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that it had lead filler on the passenger lower frame and the lead slumped due to the heat. If I had known I would have done progressive tack welds and chilled it with an air nozzle or wet shop rag. Oh well, a bit of fiberglass reinforced filler took care of it. BTW, it looks a lot better with that gas door removed.
