New Book Reveals Secrets of Photographer Vivian Maier

There has always been an air of mystery surrounding the life of Vivian Maier. Maier, as you may know, was a North Shore nanny who quietly pursued another endeavor - in her spare time she took extraordinary photographs. Author Ann Marks joins us.

About 100 pages in on this book and it is fascinating. Almost as amazing as Vivian’s work is Ann Marks’ ability to flesh out the story of an unknown nanny as much as she has. Her book is 600 pages long and is packed with details about Vivian’s life. It’s quite an achievement.

Did Ann Marks talk to people who knew Vivian? How did she know unknown aspects of Vivian's life that no one had written about? Did she make a major effort to find anyone she could who knew Vivian. Also, isn't there a lawyer preventing the public from seeing her photography because he claims Vivian has relatives that need to be notified so they can receive any profits from the sales etc of Vivian's masterpieces? Were a lot of the photos Ann saw in negative form and yet to be printed? How long did it take her to look at 140,000 photos? Thanks for this video!
