A very nice video and good shooting! I enjoy making and shooting selfbows. I have found that they shoot as fast as my modern longbow when properly constructed. A Mollegabet design seems to consistently be the fastest. But we should not worry ourselves about such things! Enjoy the outdoors with a bow in hand.

Very nice shooting both of you.

Thank you! Still loving that bow, although it lost a bit of its poundage (about 2#). But I changed my arrow material and shoot lighter arrows, so all good still ;)

+jim moi Merci Jim! I'm indeed lucky with that bow, it's a rarity, because it's made of dogwood. Also it performs well, i hope it will not break too soon. When you have a self made wood bow the first few weeks of shooting are the most critical, when it survives that, theres a good chance it will live long and prosper ;)

+AboCaveman Thank you for subscribing! I saw your video about the dogwood selfbow and just had to show you mine. Dogwood bows are really rare, my friend who made this bow told me that its hard to find a suitable piece of dogwood to build a bow out of.

Schicker Bogen und schön geschossen! :)

Very nice shooting. Just curious of what type of string material you're using on the primitive bow?
@TheDayne8 жыл бұрын
+GatorKountry Thank you! I am using a selfmade dacron string, flemish twist.

I can speak German but can't write it! Grrrrr! Anyways great bow and video. Do you know what size diameter tree your pal cut? I see a lot of crown on the back so I thought it was from a sapling.
@TheDayne7 жыл бұрын
Aaron Luna hey, i dont know the exact size, but dogwood itself rarely grows very tall and thick since its more a bush than a tree. the younger saplings are much too small to build a bow out of them. I'll see if i can reach my pal and ask him if he can remember.
@Aaron-ud6wk7 жыл бұрын
LongbowArchery Don't worry about it. Asking your friend. I've worked with dogwood before but was wondering about your bow. Good stuff bud.
@TheDayne7 жыл бұрын
If i reach him, i will write you here. By the way, i have since built my own first bow two months ago, you might want to check out my video about it. Its a white ash wood flat bow. came out really nice and shoots like a charm! kzbin.info/www/bejne/bn68XqqmqLaXnrM
