Thanks Oscar, a really interesting video, I have never seen any of Hornby Dublo's 'Primary' series items, their last ditch attempt to win some sales back from Triang, such a pity. The information on the 3D printer was most helpful, I have a work colleague, who I think spent quite a bit on his second printer, he makes some very useful and practical items for work, plus some fun novelty things. He has offered to make some railway bits but I think I would like a printer of my own, although I suspect it will take up a lot of my time !

Good morning Paul thanks for looking in. The definitely seem to have cut down the cost on those wagons. They're incredibly light. The 3-D printing has been a lot of fun and very rewarding but it was being a massive learning curve and there was so much more to discover. I'm hoping the improvements I'm planning will improve the prints I'm making and cut down on some of the errors and times spent correcting them, I've got quite a list of relatively simple items. I would like to make.. It's definitely worth getting yourself a printer and giving it a go. All the best. Oscar

I really enjoyed you breathing new life into those models Oscar , the princess was a gift off my father in the late 50s or early sixties , so all the mods had been done by a previous owner , since the 70s it’s somehow survived many house-moves , the caboose was purchased new by me in the 60s to go with my Davey Crockett , which was favourite loco and I played with it daily , sadly I didn’t realise I was such a heavy handed child ! Thankyou

Another lovely video Oscar. Seeing the axle you found on the track reminded me of my own experiences working in the bathroom where we have the best light. The sink plug hole has swallowed so many small parts and no matter where I place my stuff to work on it seems to just magically suck the parts in like a black hole.

So much joy to be had with these items Oscar. I have never before seen the Hornby guards van, such a gem. The body looks very much like the Airfix guards van model, it has the slide in ends too. I can well imagine that Airfix used the Hornby van as a basis for their model. Have you ever had a Princess model that you couldn't fix? I've seen you bring new life to so many of them. This is a great video once more. David.

Good morning David it's a lovely item that little Guards van and such a lovely colour it was very kind of the person to send it on to me. I had hoped to run it with the Big Metal Hornby Dublo crane and another red van I have to make a Brakedown train but in playing around with the item, I found the crane will not run under my elevated section as the winding handles of the crane foul on the piers I 3D printed, they do protrude quite a distance from the side of the model. All the best. Oscar

The Princess is a beauty. Your choice of decals is perfect, just enough to lift the appearance. It does run smoothly and quietly too. Definitely something to be said for the early chassis design. Very enjoyable running session with the Dublo items going around as well. 😊

I’m wondering if you have the triangle emu set I am looking at getting a couple myself if you do I would love to see it running and how you maintain it. Hello Oscar, it's Martin from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire again. Just watched your excellent video about the collection of Triang Hornby locomotive and wagons. What a first class video and that was very kind of the gentleman to send the models to you. You have done a brilliant job of restoring them, well done Oscar. I think the locomotive was the first one I ever had. But they all look good now. After your restoration of the locomotive she runs very well for her age. Well done sir, and thank you for a great video, well its time for my cup of tea and a toasted tea cake. Well ill see you next Sunday Oscar, keep safe and have a good week ahead and a safe one. 👍🚂☕

Hi Oscar, 1st class refurb on the Princess 👏 A couple of years ago I bought an RA boxed set with instructions dated 08/10/57, Black Princess, two coaches and standard track. A wash and service brought it back to nearly new, lovely model. Thanks again, Gordon

The couplers on the yellow wagon and brake van stood out to me as something I've seen before...on Lima O scale rolling stock (also Rivarossi/AHM and Pola). I became familiar with these oddball couplers when i acquired a small collection of O scale AHM US freight cars, and later some Lima 'O' coaches and freight stock here in the US (where I'm a 3-rail 'O' collector/operator)

Wow!.. what a fortunate find you have in the Old Time Caboose. I believe that only 4000 were made, so quite a rare find. I got mine in a near similar state but managed to revive it. I made my chimney from a suitable piece of "sprig" (which had a bend in it) from a model kit. The roof on mine wasn't cracked, however on other models where I have experienced damage such as the one on yours, I attach a thin gauged piece of plastic on the underside, bridging the crack, using model glue, which strengthens the area and keeps both parts in line. A superb model. Great stuff... Enjoy.😊

Looks like there should be enough room in the base/chassis of the brake van for a small weight, don't know if it would improve running, or even if it needs a weight. Always look forward to your sunday morning videos!

A good video here Oscar, a nice range of items shown in this video. Was at the Leeds Model Railway show this weekend (Saturday 26th October) and there was a really nice triang layout that you would have enjoyed, it was called The Jubilee Line, it’s a triang TT layout and it’s based on the T307 retailers layout that was shown in the triang 1960s track layout folder, it had a couple,of differences though, for example it had a high level section. It the high level is constant instead of having up and down inclines Great video overall here Oscar, keep up the great work.

Good morning David thanks again for looking in. Hope you had a great time at the Leeds Model Railway Show, the layout you describes sounds terrific. I've not seen that one myself. There were some really beautiful items produced in that TT range, the buildings are especially good looking. I was at the Train Collectors Society show in Leicester on the 2nd of November myself, I had a great day. There was some amazing large scale railway on show. All the best. Oscar

Hi Oscar, Sorry that I am late.... The restoration of the Princess is a testimony to the longevity of the Tri-ang toys... Very interchangeable parts were used throughout the range, to make servicing simple and even enjoyable... My first loco was a 'Hiawatha' , long before it was known by that name? It was simply a TC 'Pacific' and Tender.. Bought in 1955, it is still running, as are the Gondola, Boxcar and Caboose from that original set.. And do you know what? (I believe) That the chassis is actually shared with the early Princess? The pony trucks may be different, but I'm pretty sure that the main chassis is the same? Great to see an early Princess featured in this video, along with the other items from the early range seen in the catalogues.. There is just "something" about those old catalogues? My Grandson is continually drawn back to look at those smallish catalogues, in preference to (the many pages) in the latest ones? There was just 'magic' in the simplicity of those, now very worn, catalogues..... I do so wish that current manufacturers would produce "simple and almost indestructible" toys at a price suitable for young people to buy? Ones that did not break as they were being unpacked, and were capable of running on less than 'perfect' track laid out perhaps on the living room table?

Morning Rob a bit late myself! I've been away for the last few days. I was in Leicester on Saturday 2nd November for the Train Collectors Society show which was a terrific event. I think you're right the Hiawatha shared the chassis of Princess along with other parts and underwent the changes as the chassis developed. It would be great if the manufacturers came up with a fun and robust toys like this, they are very rewarding to play with and maintain. All the best. Oscar

I wasn't aware that you could purchase American rolling stock in either Triang or Dublo gauge size. Then again, they were created before I was born, so I don't know anything about it in any case. Don't wear your printer out, lol.

If that brake wagon was made in the early 50s it is likely the screw was made of aluminium due to the steel shortage from WW2. Many cars at the time had aluminium bodies like London cabs and the new Land Rovers at the time. They got the aluminium from recycled war planes no longer wanted as well as crashed ones. As for Princess tender, leave it blank and make it a halloween loco!😂😂
