New brakes, wipers, decals and MG ZR roof spoiler for my 2002 Rover 25 1.6 iXL CVT Auto…(17/06/24)

I drive my 2002 Rover 25 1.6 iXL CVT Stepspeed automatic on the fantastic journey from my home in the Peak District National Park to the ‪@ProjectNigel‬ Yard of Dreams in Milnrow, nestling in the foothills of the Pennines for a pamper day. Once there, ‪@TheRealCaptainMustard‬ and I fit new brakes, wipers, decals and an MG ZR roof spoiler, after which I have a fabulously scenic drive back home over the Snake Pass.

Well, it’s new to me but I totally agree! It’s a revelation to find that I’m capable of doing some basic stuff, albeit under tutelage and with help. The bottom line is that Shison had been off the road for a month because I couldn’t afford to pay to get the brakes done, and would have stayed off the road. So it’s not just the satisfaction of saving a few bob, it’s the satisfaction of having a usable car again! And yes, the journey home was a sheer joy. Apart from being stuck behind dawdlers on the Snake when I really fancied a properly spirited thrash.

I cant get over how scenic the roads are on your travels to the yard and work. Nice job on the MGZR little improvements make it overall better. The spoiler does look good.

@@Mr_Boaty I live on the edge of the fens so every where is pretty flat I guess it has it's own beauty. The rolling lands scape on your drives is a refreshing change for me. Like you I wouldnt live in a city.

It’s very nice. Quite different on each side, the Sheffield side is a gradual ascent and forested, whereas the Manchester side is much more acute and open farmland. The continual roadworks are a pain, and the road is like a roller coaster in places but it is fun. Lots of places to stop too for a picnic or whatever, and of course on the top there’s the airplane wreck that I’ve still never seen…

Surely you meant the rear shoes, it doesn't have disks on the rear I assume. I've got discs on the rear that I don't like on my little Fiat that it doesn't need, and it doesn't work as well with a handbrake. Its only a1.4......is that a triangle of doom I see with the wipers? 😆

They’re an iXL with the hot engine and the sequential gearbox. Discs all round on that unicorn spec. Super rare, catches everyone out.
