I love the Taccia urushi and maki-e offerings, I have two dozen of them. So many unique finishes and Sailor nibs makes for a great combination. The creator of the brand, Shu-Jen, is very nice and thoughtful. Only wish could get all the models that Japan gets!

lol taccia pens are beautiful (except for the clips, but that's a personal thing) but them mentioning affordable in their brand explanation is downright laughable

:D clips or not... this is a controversial topic on urushi pens - to have them with or without clip, I like both cases. Affordable I wouldn't say its laughable but a lot of this pricing guide is due to the the fact that they initially was tied up with the USA ownership of the brand, once the Japanese manufacturing side took over the rights of the name, they had to follow the prices to match what the USA side advertised before the deal... or at least this is what I understood from the talks with them. They told us, the retailers, that in time the prices will become more affordable as they distance themselves from the pens resembling or made from designs when the USA side was running the brand. On this aspect we've seen lately some more different yet affordable options in their line up - its getting there, slow but sure

Like the blue 18K cigar shaped pen: reminds me of Sailor 1911 Large, tho’ that pen comes with a 21K nib: I’ve only got one Taccia ink, Ao blue which is a fantastic ink: so glad you’re stocking inks and pens from Taccia!:)

I’m almost 100% that your personal collection is going to be getting the Winter’s Breath Empress soon. I’ve seen the smaller nib version in person and it is stunning. I’m hoping I can afford to add a WB Empress to my own collection before they’re all gone, but sadly I suspect that unlikely :(

Taccia has been on my radar for a little while! Don’t own one yet. That winter’s breathe is stunning and I bet that’s the one you have in your personal collection 😉 lol. I didn’t know sailor made 18k gold nibs I thought they just made 14k and 21k. But that 18k #8 nib is stunning 🤩

I love to work with brands that have a good team behind, that they can communicate quick and make things very easy and straight forward - all nibs of Taccia are made by Sailor for them exclusively and i think the 18k is only available on the Taccia line, anyway shape is the same and the feeder is the same - writing experience although is different and for example the KOP nib the 21k Sailor - for me is just too soft, the 18k on the other hand is perfect... :D if we are talking about a Medium point on both 21k vs 18k , if we are going to specialty kop nibs, than the stacked Cross point is the Champ Champ

I am guessing Winter's Breath, Empress? A competitor in the states had that during Christmas, so my choice was between that one and the smaller one. I chose the smaller one.

You are right 😁 - the smaller one is just as nice, I wanted to grab them being a limited ed and not miss out on having them in stock , very nice pen and the nib is really good, I did had the Medium on a KOP and was too soft for my taste

THE THING THAT MAKES ME SO MAD ABOUT THIS IS THE WORD AFFORDABLE .... 500 figgin dollars is not affordable !!! thats an outrage ... if your going to call a spade a spade call this pen a Luxury pen for god sakes its more expensive than some viscanti pens thats NOT affordable ... jinhao 992 that is affordable ... thank you sorry Rant over :(

Rant or not, an Urushi pen cant be put side by side a pen that is made of a different material, it is a natural process that takes many months and simply is not Affordable - unless it is compared with other Urushi pens that exceed many thousands of dollars. We just cant compare apples to pears

@@pen.venture I am so sure they are the highest quality I have seen how they are made it takes a lot of time and effort the word affordable is where I take a twist depends on how fat your wallet is mine is pretty small ok very very small the point is this is a luxury brand not a affordable one

There’s many ways one can summarise expense. Materials, Work Hours, Branding. When it comes to urushi, you have the expense of the materials, work hours. So Taccia are quite affordable in relationship to other pens finished in the same treatment. The training these artisans go through, is very very long, so in part you’re paying for that. Of course 500 dollars is a lot of money, but one could justify it by the artistry that goes into it. Of course how we justify expense is different to everyone.

@@PenFriends This is true of course. I'm poor so everything is expensive to me lol its ok its still nice to look ... still they could use the term relitively affordable according to price market or something like that then it wouldnt seem so jaring
