NEW CABS! Thyssenkrupp Touchscreen Momentum Traction Elevators at Marriott Waterside, Tampa, FL

Well, you guys remember these. The Pointlessly Modded Fujitec Elevators at The Tampa Marriott Waterside that got this Touchscreen Kruppy mod last year that replaced the well running original Fujitecs that were ONLY FROM 2000!!!! And NO, unlike some of the Otises from the same year you see getting modded in Vegas and such, this wasn't a slap on mod, EVERYTHING was replaced from the motors, controllers, fixtures, call stations and lanterns, etc.!!! A LOT of 17 YEAR OLD EQUIPMENT, POINTLESSLY THROWN AWAY!!!! The Cabs were kept original at first, but only just, as I came here last month to find that these now have BRAND NEWMODERN CABS, and they COMPLETELY Renovated the Hotel!!!! Also, the Service Elevators appear to now be in the process of modernization. I would've rode them if I had time, but I didn't really and I was here for a convention, but just got a retake in the small amount of time I had remaining.
As for the elevators, while fairly nice, the mod, again, is indeed very useless and pointless, and they destroyed Nice Well Running Fujis that weren't old at all and just recently the beautiful wooden cabs!!! And while these are super smooth and the touchscreens are neat, Touchscreens aren't designed to be on and used nonstop on something like an elevator, and with that being said, I don't see these running too long until they have to get modded again.

Installed: 2000 (Fujitec with Circle Vanity Style fixtures and Wooden Cabs with Brass Handrails)
Modernized: 2016-2017 (Thyssenkrupp with Innovation Prestige Call Buttons and Door Controls, Touchscreen COP, and new motors and controllers and lanterns)
Cabs Totally Redone in 2018!!!

As much as I like these touchscreens, i preferred the original fujitecs here. Probably the touchscreens have a backlight that would be replaced, or when the elevator isnt being used, the screens get shut off to conserve it

2 of the 3 service elevators have been modded at this point. While i did maintenance there for the last year or so only 1 of the 3 service elevtors were in commision. The wait times to use it were very very long. It was like this for almost a year and a half but now they are finally getting around to the other two

The touchscreen idea is neat :) and I like how we can use HTML to customize the user interface on the touchscreens :)

It IS a neat idea, but the backlights in touchscreens are designed to only he on a certain amount of time and eventually they burn out, and when that happens, these will need to be modded again.. Touchscreens aren't mean't to be in elevators where they have to be on all the time

Same exact thing they did to the Sugar Land Medical Building right after the mod. However, the building hallways & lobby itself is not renovated. Makes me wonder if a fully new modern elevators don’t match the building that’s built in the 80s.

Are you sure these aren’t just generic elevators installed by ThyssenKrupp? They don’t seem like Momentum or anything ThyssenKrupp proprietary.

Elevators from less than 30 years old don’t need a modernization. If they run well, and there’s no issues, then it’s just a waste of money to modernize

Completely agreed!!! And even some elevators much older than 30 years still run like new today making modernization for them pointless as well. Modernization is a waste of money unless the elevator is literally in such poor shape it is neglected beyond restore...

Floridian Elevators & James C, look at Roosevelt Field and what happened to the 1993 scenic Dover Traditional elevators. Completely ripped out, replaced by two pieces of aluminum metal boxed elevators that are already breaking down constantly right after put into service. They have done it in late 2015.
