William DeMicheli Cedar fair stated that Knotts is one of the four parks they want to heavily focus on in the future and both Knotts and cedar fair have been heavily focusing on theme since Matt ouitmat became president. Every ride they've added has had pretty solid theming and they even said they want to continue improving the theming

Early to mid 90s was the best, waterfall was running, large splashes.. Now it seems more dressed up, but tamed. Had to turn off the waterfall because of ill-mannered people... I wonder where they came from?

This doesn't feel like a refurbishment, feels more like a brand new ride! Love the animatronics. I was hoping BIG Foot would be a little bigger but still awesome! Hope to see more dark rides and animatronics in Knotts future!

I don't recall anything special about Bigfoot Rapids when I rode it about a year ago. This upgrade looks absolutely amazing. It's not the greatest thing ever, but it's much more effort than I'd ever expect from Cedar Fair when it comes to theming, and it actually makes me want to go back and ride it. I just hope they'll carry on keeping the theming well maintained and not letting it die away. I think the animatronics enhance the experience pretty well, but it's mostly the physical props that do it for me. As nice as the rocks and hills are, they aren't really unique to this rapids. This new theme they're going with may be a little bizarre and all over the place, but I'm so glad to see Cedar Fair putting theming back into the park, considering most of their additions have created a painful divide between the front and back halves of the park, as well as mucking up the front entrance area.

I’m glad they updated this ride. I haven’t rode since it was the new It attraction of the 80s. Glad they put a Bigfoot in there finally. It was a cave and you heard a loud noise is what I remember.

Grizzly River Run is meant to be pretty authentic. I don't think there's really anything left for them to do with that ride- it's one of (if not) the most beautifully themed attractions I've seen in my life. It's meant to be a river rafting journey alone in the mountains. Animatronics would ruin that aesthetic entirely.

The animals and scenery look really good. Bigfoot seems a little underwhelming, but could be better in person. What I'm wondering is, where are the drops? Are there no drops in this ride? I guess I'm used to Grizzly River Run at California Adventure (which could use some animals like this.)

Calico River Rapids (Big Foot rapids) never had any drops. A lot of people seem to get it mixed up with Grizzly at DCA. Although it use to have a water fall exactly where the mountain lion is located now.

It seems like it would be more thrilling with drops. Likewise, Grizzly River would be more thematically interesting with animal figures. Especially bears -- it's in the name! :D.

Low budget is the key. Knotts will never surpass Disney financially, theme park decor or animal friendly. Last time I went to Knotts, the abuse of the horses pulling the stage coach was more then a decent person can handle. Watching them still being forced to pull when they are full of sweat, falling down in urine and trying to get back up. Sick. And let's face it. A simple water ride with no thrills in the rapids part, boring. No matter what kind of scenery you are looking at.

Also Disney isn't a thrill park, their brand is about Themeing and scenery. Your comment is as stupid as saying that the Jungle Cruise would be better without Animals which ruin the aesthetic of the ride. What a dumb thing to say. Animals are part of nature and GRR is themed to nature, how would animal Animatronics ruin the aesthetic of the ride? @@TheNM21 theres a part where theres a rock you go under. That use to have water come down it, you would go under it, and 1 maybe 2 lucky riders would get drenched! There also use to be a warning saying " you might get wet or even drenched" dont think I've seen it there any more.
