We're glad someone FINALLY noticed the sweet design of the removable tripod foot 😂

i think you mean the 'forgotten' sweet design of the removable tripod foot....as canon used to do this, but strangely forgot about it for a long time :)

We try and test the gear in a real world scenario as often as possible . Unboxing videos aren’t really our thing.

very good review Stu, the parfocality of the 2.8 seems more than good enough to settle any worries I had. Agreed on the pricing of the servo unit, it's far too high a percentage of the lens' cost itself. Shirt was on point too, and west country accent turned up to 11 made up for Lee's absence.

Boom, the RS2 and the stabilization modes were what I was curious about, thank you so much!

No problem, they were two of the things I was curious about after the more obvious performance of the lens optically.

one of the best reviews so far! how would you control zoom on a gimbal setup? kind of thinking a wireless follow focus would perform better than the poorly designed servo setup atm

As someone considering the RF 24-105 f/2.8 paired with a RED cine camera, this is the best review yet, though I am not certain of some tests like parfocal where it is unclear if the parfocal capability is “active” - under electronic control. The optical performance, where no digital corrections can be a factor on RED are much more reassuring. I would like to see a review directly testing all these same factors on an 8K RED V-Raptor X camera, however.
@TwoCameraChaps9 ай бұрын
Hi as far as I am aware the red cameras do not have the same electronic communication with this lens. I haven't a red to test it, so I would expect some lens vignetting that would need altering to taste in post.

Thanks for this sir. Confirms purchase satisfaction. I love the lens 24-105 F2.8. I was able to sell off a couple to have a more all in one for my C70. I have a RF24-70 for my 2nd C70. It works well for my needs. I enjoy this channel.
@stuartmorganproductions9 ай бұрын
Thanks, I hope it clarified your good decision and you like the channel. The new lens is very nice indeed and I can see a lot of users keeping it on their cameras for a high percentage of what they shoot.

There’s me thinking IS mode 3 was for erratic situations like sports, where the IS is enabled at the point of capturing the image so the viewfinder isn’t fighting the subject your tracking

Have you tried the PZ-E2 or PZ-E2B motors for remote Focus control? And is there an App to control Zoom and Focus?
@TwoCameraChaps5 ай бұрын
Yes i have used the PZ-E2B which works well and if you plug in a usb c power supply source the zoom speed it considerably quicker if you need those fast crash zoom ins or super fast reframing options. I didn’t use any Wi-Fi control but believe this is possible with the correct control unit. So the zoom can be controlled remotely for use on say a jib arm for example. Alternately I have used a wireless tilta nano to control either focus or zoom and this works too and is a lot less money.

Amazing review.. lots of my questions answered… just curious about Rf 28-70 F/2 … where it stacks up??? If someone is going with 24-105 F/2.8, is it worth to get some fast glasses like 1.2 or 1.4 or 28-70 F/2 is enough.,, Much appreciated 🙌🏻

@captainkanji19 ай бұрын
As an amateur hobbyist photographer, I find the price ludicrous. I don't shoot video, but if I did, I'd drool over the 2.8. Looks like a fantastic video lens. I suspect lots of pros getting this one.
@TwoCameraChaps9 ай бұрын
Yep the std F4 RF is a great lens, but the servo really makes sense if you shoot video.

I want it. But it's still a bit to expensive for me.

I tried using a R6II on the RS3 gimbal. Immediate nogo with the eye piece hitting the roll arm when i tested, but i might have left the tripod foot in and the 100gram might have offset it alittle. But with a heavier body like the R3 or with a battery grip should work
@TwoCameraChaps9 ай бұрын
Hi, I don't test with an R6II, only he R3 and C70, both of which balanced ok. I would say that the much ligher body, hence the set-up would be more front heavy. Certainly counterweights would work and a battery grip would help also.
